    Mornin' Randall,
I'm sold on all points and just like playing devils advocate sometime. We both know the only knowledge I have in any of this is my ability to ask a lot of question and make you think.

Seems you've already done all that

That's good, that's precisely why I posted up in here! Get everyone talking, because a lot of time it makes me realize/consider/think of something I hadn't.

Yea, I honestly think it's gonna look great. A mod for Harley owners at one time was bobbing the rear fender. Some of the designs got pretty extreme. In the long run though it was something you only saw on total custom bikes.

I'd still lose the tailgate and make a spare tire carrier gate. Seems it would be easy enough for you. If I remember correctly, didn't you keep all the main swingout parts you'd need to pull this off?

That's been something I haven't decided yet. Losing a foot of bed space, it would help a lot to get the spare tire out of the bed. At the same time though I want to keep the ass end light. I have plenty of time to decide.

The more you cut off the lighter the weight.

I like the way you think! Are you hinting at Randall making the taco an convertible?

It would be interesting to do the math on how much weight Randall is losing from the 12" of bed compared to how much his spare weighs.

Yea, sounds like you only option then is laying in the bed or laying on a platform mounted to a swing out. There is one other option.........Have you removed your rear seats yet?

Also need to factor in the weight of the HC rear I'll be losing. That weighs 120 lbs+20 lbs of bed material. New bumper, maybe 80 lbs?

Right now I have it strapped to the front of the bed, standing up. It's pretty effective.

I just called Roberts oxygen and they're still open, which is good. I'm out of welding gas and would need that to get this party started. After I'm done "working" today I'm going to head over and get more gas and my CO2 refilled. Then I'll start taking stuff off my truck, depending how I'm feeling. Maybe start taking measurements and putting painters tape down where I'll need to cut.
