But how often do you get to redline all of those big bikes in every gear every shift? That’s the fun of the grom.

couldnt pay me to own a scooter. never understood the appeal and never will.
eh. grom doesnt have enough power to even make it entertaining imo. a bit of motor work and it probably be more fun. when i raced mine it was hold the throttle full open on the track and tap brakes to slow down.

I’m 6’3 and 245 so me on a Grom would mean a top speed of 30mph So the CRF250L is my scooter I also have a 1981 C70 Passport in yellow. At least on the 250L it’s street legal, freeway legal, and has a skid plate, a cargo rack now, and full Yoshi system with EJK and Unifilter in a modified airbox so I can get to around 75mph32223CE4-B17A-4BAB-A5F3-043B1B008FA3.jpg

When Toyota/Subaru unveiled the GT86/BRZ they were talking about it on Top Gear (the UK version, not the US abortion) and Jeremy Clarkson said something that rings very true. It's more fun to drive a slow car fast than it is to drive a fast car slow. When I had my Fiat 500 I fully understood that concept. That thing was a blast to drive, all while staying under the posted speed limit. I can't really say the same for the hot rods I've owned. They could go from zero to jail in a really short amount of time.

That being said, yes I did just build a 100+ hp Sportster...

When I drive my Honda Fit to work, I shift at redline, and try to get the tires to chirp on turns. Its a fun beater.

yeah i get that. to me theres a line where too little is boring as well (exactly where the FRS/BRZ would land imo) and the grom. they just need a little more is all i think.

if I want to go fast I would jump on my sport bikes.

I do miss my 05 Ducati 999 Biposto but I still have my 05 CBR600RR Black Tribal which is still stupid fast, and the boat I traded the Ducati for gets more use than all of my bikes.

Off topic, but did you ever watch the Pirelli World Challenge TCB racing? They ran mostly stock Fiat 500s, Honda Fits, Nissan Versas, Mini Coopers, and Toyota Yaris (Yarises? Yari?). Funniest race I ever saw was at Sonoma. I think it was a Fit hit a curb and barrel rolled. Very slowly.
