Does the sport have different coil springs than OR? That would be news to me.

    Lol...

    Thanks.r
Let's not bullshit anyone here okay. I retired from the auto/truck industry, A4, C1, P2 certified. The cell phone has created a new language, and the newb shit has always been a great way to break someone in. I don't need anymore hazing. Been there got the scars. In a forum that focuses on four wheel drives, don't ya think it's phucking silly to call a truck suspension "off road". Holy phuck.

    Hahaha! :hattip:

@Jeff Lange is da man here.

But, yes. The Sport has stiffer springs. 700lb is tossed around. We also share the sway bar with the Pro (30mm versus 28mm for the other models).

IMHO, the Sport rides really nice on road and off with sway bar delete. Pretty close to the OR without the brake dive. I do have a good bit of fun in the corners. The Sport springs, shocks, and sway bar all wrapped together is a bit much though.

Hmmm, sway bar delete you say? Might have to try it one day. Doesnt it affect cornering at high speeds?

I take this highway a lot so i need it to corner very well.

I think Fire Chicken is referring to the "TRD Off Road" trim level of the Tacoma, which has a slightly different suspension than the other Tacoma trims. Even though all 4x4 Tacomas regardless of trim are quite capable off road.

Since there is no test driving shocks/springs I guess I just need to take the plunge. Roads are total $hit in Wisconsin so I don't want the ride to get too firm.

There is more body roll (about the same as the OR), but no loss of traction or control that I noticed. IMHO, at highways speeds that road should be just fine with little difference. I huck it down my favorite motorcycle roads for fun.

It is only 11 bolts to pull after you drop the skid plate. Takes no time and no need to lift it off the floor or pull a wheel. Give it a test and see. If you hate it, toss it back on.

Thanks for the input man!

I wish i had a motorcycle to rip around in, haha!

Ill definetily try it one day. Going offroad with stock sport suspension is not the best, main reason i want to try it.

In the parts at toyota.com, it lists a standard and stiff springs? I know my Sport has less brake dive than an OR, but that is both springs and shocks together.

Oh yeah. I tested a mud hole the first week I had it and hated it. I've gone several times since and it feels almost plush with it gone.

It isn't the worst deal to pull it just for wheeling. That was where I started and just left it because it was better for me, and I was not getting nasty looks from my wife when hitting potholes.

I have a Sport and it handles pretty well for a truck. It's obviously not a sports car, but it does move well for a high-riding BOF vehicle. It does jostle you a bit when on rough roads, though.

So I am liking my 2019 TRD Sport 4x4 6sp. actual thinking about adding a rear sway bar for better control on those paved country roads

Working is good right now. Hopefully that sticks around for you.

I'm working more from home than I have been at the office. Way too much to do.

Different shocks on access cab vs double cab sport, hmm interesting. Hard to belive they would use different shocks.

I love my 2017 Sport DCSB MT (Double Cab, Short Bed, manual transmission) with ~ 50,xxx. This is my daily driver and workhorse and I do recommend it, especially the manual transmission. The MT is is VERY smooth in these trucks and is the unicorn in my opinion. However, the OR does offer more bang for your buck in terms of gadgets. For example, brake booster, ATRAC (in MT), Locker in the rear, and a larger rear end in AT. The MT in Sport is the same as the MT in the OR. If I could do it again, I would seriously look at the OR and test drive it. Overall, I love my truck and would not trade it in for a newer truck or a OR at this point. Hope this helps.
