Thinking about starting with some Subaru tweeters. Also looking at getting kicker front and rear speakers and seeing if I really want to keep spending time and money on my sound system. Are the kicker door speakers worth it? Or do they sound similar to stock.

Start with head unit. Thats where a majority of sound output is. The kickers are 100w and the stock deck dies maybe 15w

Most are. Even alpines and pioneers only do 4x20w. My t9 does 4x30w. If you kept the stock speakers and got a kicker key amp, youd be ahead if the game. With that said, there is a noticable effect changing door speakers, but not remarkable. Your stock speakers should be able to handle more power than what is currently available

I'm pretty lost when it comes to sounds. So basically upgrading the head unit to push more power or getting an amp to pull more power out of the stock head unit would be a first good mod?

It wouldnt be a bad start, but people like to get amps when they incorporate subs and better speakers. So it goes both ways, you are trying to power 100w speakers with 15 w of power

So what would be a good system? Head unit, amp, speakers and sub all?

Thought about it, then remembered that Toyota needs to earn their money that I pay them for fluid refills and checks so they can lift my heavy ass hood. Lol. I literally never go under my hood so not a worth while mod for me.
