who running load range e tires?

Hey guys, I am running load range E duratracs. Great tire, tougher than nails(literally) load range E is generall a 10 ply tire.

My only complaint is that the tires are soo damn stiff and lead to a teeth chattering ride on any rough road. Load range E tires are definitely overkill for something as a light as a Tacoma even when loaded down to the max. Load range E tires are found on uparmored HMMV's, and f-350's and shit.

I bought these because they were only 500 on craigslist and were basically brand new with only 500-600 miles on them.

I am currently running them at 40 psi although then can handle up to 80 psi max.

My question is who is running load range e's and what psi do you recommend. I know less psi will make the ride a little less firm but I also do not what to cause any pre-mature wear. thanks.

 

Start at 30 PSI and go up from there. Do the chaulk test to make sure they're not wearing unevenly (draw a chaulk line across the tire and go for a drive. If it wears out the center only, there's too much pressure in them, etc). Basically, like you mentioned, you bought tires that are overkill for your truck so you're kind of stuck with the consequences, sorry man.

 

I set my BFG AT's between 30-32psi.

 

40's fine.

 

mine are load E terra grapplers 32-35 PSI are in mine

 

I have E-rated Hankook Dynapro MT's , I run them at 35 PSI .

 

I've got the BFG KM2s load range E running them at 36. I was asking around since the tires can run at a higher psi but was told to go with the vehicle rating for psi vice running the psi rating on the tire. Rides nice

 

I have mine around 40 and the ride doesn't bother me so much. I was in the same boat as u my goodyears are e range but I got a deal too good to pass up at the time I bought them as well.

 

I am running toyo open country mts with 28 lbs in the rear and 30 in the front. did the chaulk line and are wearing even. when my grizzly is in the bed i,ll bump the rears up to around 38 lbs

To me they dont seem rough at all, i love them

 

I just got rid of the stock Rugged Trails and went with 265/75/16 BFG A/T in the load range E. What a differance! They ride a bit rougher but not the bone jarring I read about. I think alot has to do with the psi in these tires. The truck feels more solid...doesn't feel like it is leaning in corners anymore. I took them up to 40 psi today and did the chalk test. The front wore even but the back still had chalk on the outside edges. I'll try 38 psi tomorrow and see how it looks.

I used to run E rated tires on my old Ranger, only because I got sick and tired of having flats repaired on shitty tires. They wore like iron, kind of a harsh ride but they were awesome for durablitly.

 

32 for normal driving. then air them up if you doing some hauling.

personally I run them at 80 all the time. you get more life out of them too

I don't see how you could get more life out of them and even tread wear by running 80 psi...please elaborate.

 

As soon as you run non-factory recommended tires then you can run non-factory psi. A 10ply tire can go up to 80psi but I don't even run that in the 3/4ton with a load... Low 30's are what you should be shooting for.

I am in the market for tires and after reading thus site looks like Goodyear duratracs. I am all stock so going with 265/75/16 should I go with E or C rating???? I don't haul anything besides some hunting gear and farm stuff.

I have a lift and run load e duratracs at 32psi. I rather not have to screw around changing a flat on a lifted truck in the winter on the highway. My load e tires have been through hell and back and no nail could puncture them. Think runflats =)
