Partial stereo install today! Gonna have to pull it all out again though when my neighbor rigs up the new wiring harness though...

Normally I’d put this in audio and video, but I figured it’d get more traffic here...

After testing my dad’s cell phone with my old Pioneer head unit and getting the same results, I figured the issue was the HU. What’s happening is that the person I’m calling and hear me loud and clear on the other end, but I can’t hear them; Bluetooth music streaming works fine.

I bought a new, nearly indentical
HU and am having the same problem; Person being called can hear me loud and clear, but I can’t hear them. I plugged the mic from the new HU in and it still wouldn’t work; Once again, Bluetooth audio is working just fine.

I am at my absolute wit’s end here! WTF is going on?!?!

Right. So what might be happening is you may have sound going to your speakers but if the FL and FR speakers are wired to you RR and RL on the headunit you will not have sound because the headunits usually only use the front speakers for calls. Did your sound system have JBL headunit before going to all aftermarket?

Is all your speakers going through and aftermarket amp? Some headunits will only use the built in amp to use sound for bluetooth calls.

Base model RC so no JBL from factory; I believe all my speakers are going through my amp, but the system in its current incarnation was installed two years ago and this first time the Bluetooth has done anything like this.

It’s looking like the head unit was not the problem, but I kinda like this one better so I’m gonna keep it!

Unfortunately I don't have a backup truck; One of two things would end up happening if my truck got totaled or something else happened to it...

    1. I'd buy a decent 2nd Gen, preferably a 4x4, with the insurance money and modify it in a manner similar to my current truck; I'd probably take the stereo system components, WeatherTech stuff, Homertaco grille, etc and put them on the "new" truck.
    2. My parents would give me my mom's 2013 Nissan Murano and buy a new car for my mom, and I'd put the insurance money from the Tacoma away and drive the Murano while saving money until I could pay cash for another used Tacoma; My mom's Murano has only like 38K miles on it!
