If your staying at home good for you.
read what you just posted, listen to the news and don't just focus on one sentence, " stay home" there is more to it than that. I'm not going to start listing all the people that have to go out. You need to stop telling everyone to stay in unless you know their individual situations.

while people are staying in some of us have to be out to support them so they don't have to go out,

I know you intentions are good hear but, man we get what your saying, rally......

 

Sure, Windigo, if you have essential travel that’s great. But some on here think essential travel is wheeling with their trucks in the back country. You can’t say stay at home often enough for them.

 

Man you just don’t quit do you. We heard you the first time, we have our own lives. We have work and shit we have to do. We’re not licking everything we see and coughing on people. We aren’t gathering in groups and having huge parties. We are listening to the warnings and being as cautious as we individually see fit. What is the difference between me going to a full serve gas station to get gas to go to work, or to get groceries, or to do literally anything else over getting gas to go for a drive BY MYSELF.

This isn’t martial law. Until someone points a gun to my head and tells me to stay home I can exercise my right to freedom (and literally the freedom we are talking about here is driving a vehicle, I repeat, ALONE) just as every single other person in this country can, including you.

 

Hey i think all of you should calm down . I really want to say somethings here but i am going to bite my tongue. I had to lay off 20 people 2 weeks ago and have no idea if and when i will every be able to get them back to work. My company of over 30 years is in forced shut down Unemployment is rising every minute Hospitals are full. Grocery stores are empty a lot of people are going to have very hard times ahead . But who gives a F$%^ as long as you get to go for a drive. That sounds pretty self centered and selfish But hey go be an ASS if that is what makes you happy.

 

I still fail to see how going for a drive in my personal vehicle is self centred and selfish, or in any way me being an ass. We all realize there are tough times. I’m very sorry to hear about your company but that is not remotely what we were talking about at all.

 

i think the "self centered" aspect is that if you get yourself into a wreck - you're pulling emergency services aside for just you.
Basically what the cottage areas are doing now, are inserting a total fire ban. in the middle of the wettest season to prevent any idiot from starting a fire accidently that would pull fire services away from assisting the hospitals.

But again, that is only 1 angle. But as you said, as long as you're doing it alone and safely. There is no martial law and there is no definite statement requiring us to "stay home" given officially from the Government of Ontario and the Government of Canada. what we see are recommendations to stay home by news outlets that is not controlled by the government, they are not the BBC... but we should stay isolated.

 

I agree with everything you’ve said. I do see the risk of getting into a wreck and pulling services away from more important matters but it can also be argued that with less people on the road and even fewer people off road, the risks are even more minuscule.

 

Anyway, I’m hopping out of this one because there’s nothing more to be said. Opinions are like assholes, we all have one

 

Hands are the worst point of transmission of any germ/disease. I worked for a food plant and during a demonstration, a powder only seen with blue light was placed on a door knob entering the room before people were asked to come in. Imagine only the first person would touch the door knob and perhaps a couple others might touch the door but at the end the lights were turned off to show how easy it is to spread anything. The powder was everywhere. It was on walls, chairs, clothes, faces, hair, pencils, shoe laces, etc...
I think everyone on here is wise enough to know that when they do go outside the home, for whatever reason, they at least are aware of keeping their hands to themselves and not touch anything if you don't have to. Driving isn't free from transmission because you might be a carrier and not know it and not show symptoms. Sanitize your hands before getting into the truck because you will rub your nose/face at some point and not realize it. Sanitize when you get out of the truck so you don't transmit it, if you do have it, to wherever you're going. Imagine you're a carrier of the virus and also where you go you might pick it up. Keep that in mind at all times.
