Looks like those are power to the wheels figures based on this dyno Burger Tuning has on their website.

    Excerpt from their product page:
    Power Gains, Features, & Benefits
    • Power gains of up to 100hp and 120wtq to the wheels on a stock vehicle

For anyone wondering what the differences in weight was (found on quick google search)
    Raptor 4x4 2018 Ford F-150 Specs
Curb Weight 5,525 to 5,697 lbs

    2018 tacoma TRD PRO
    Curb Weight 4,445 lbs

So a little over 1,000lbs lighter

Using Mat's base kit numbers, if you take 320 as the average whp for the kit and use 4500lbs for the weight, you get a power to weight ratio of 0.0711

For the Powermax kit, using 375 whp as our reference, P/W hits 0.0833

For the Raptor, a quick Google search showed an average of 350-365 whp. Since I used the lower number for Mat's base kit numbers (320-325 reported), I elected to use 350 for the raptor. The extra 10-15 possible whp won't make much of a difference for our purposes. Assuming 5600lbs, P/W ratio comes out to 0.0625

In conclusion, Mat's base aftermarket kit nets a higher P/W ratio than the Raptor, although whether or not it would matter in any sort of head to head would remain to be seen

I think I can get a Treadstone TR1035 in there with enough room to turn it back in, with only minor cutting and not interfering with the hood latch. I remember you saying skinny cools better, but that Treadstone has more cu.in. of cooling than the CX and it could have more flow up behind the grill. Opinion OV?

    TR1035
    10.5 x 22 x 3.5

    CXRacing (OV Kit)
    11 x 24 x 3

Is your kit going to be all aluminum welded hard piping between the intercooler and the turbo, other than the initial silicone couplers, or are there 45/90/etc silicone fittings to make turns?

    Thanks

I would be particularly interested in hearing about any solutions you come up with for peoples with winches

I've a Smittybilt x20 10k sitting in a cbi hidden winch bumper mount

Some spots require silicone couplers but yes as much piping as can be will be weld pieces to eliminate clamps and couplers.

The overall length of that intercooler is 30 inches, it's actually longer than the intercooler I am using, which has entrance and exit ports at the top, so the total length is only 24 inches.
I have a Treadstone TR1235 that I was originally using
    Core Size, 12.5" X 22" X 3.5"

and there is no way it is fitting up in that grille area. and it's only 2.5 inches taller.

    something like this *might* work
    https://x-ph.com/vr-speed-vrsf-f-ch...fnZHn8vyJzOxA1j-tZY6lscAlL4gogvkaAogoEALw_wcB

and actually these intercoolers are quite nice. although they are made for bmws.

Thanks for the input. That 2.5 inches taller poses a lot of issues with cutting plastic grill support, interfering with the hood latch, and being a touch too high overall for turning it back in.

Let’s say I could get that TR1035 to fit behind the grill with room to 45 back into the engine compartment, could you comment on the cooling requirement for low boost powermax?

I’m not looking for a “will be enough cooling and I guarantee it”, just a “should be enough” will work for me and allow me to move forward.

if you can make that IC fit it willl be more than enough to cool.

but end to end this is a very big intercooler.

edit okay so looking at mine, it might fit if you orient it like this, this is the only way I see it fitting

    300.jpg

but the intercooler piping is like this :

Is this graph still accurate, more specifically the light blue lines?

Perfect, I think it’ll fit that way too. I’ll order one up and start playing.

Okay, just had a look at the new one. When looking at the base turbo blue lines on both graphs although the boost could be turned up a few psi the boost seem to taper down pretty fast beyond 2500rpms. That would deem the base kit + DI option not exactly worth it even with the extra fueling. Base Turbos just aren’t up to the task for too much more without running out of breath. I guess all roads still point to the powermax for me.

You can definitely run more boost on the base turbos. But you NEED fuel upgrades to do so. They are not out of breath on 6psi, the stock fuel system is.
That old graph you quoted had a "what is possible" without fuel upgrades but at this point I don't recommend trying to replicate that boost curve.
