Installed the No Drill Hood Struts from Sokietech. Raises hood a couple more inches than using the prop rod.

Install takes about 10 minutes
You may have to remove the RH plastic cover by air box, to expose the threaded hole for ball stud to mount to. If you do have to do this, remove the rubber hood bumper and slide the plastic cover toward the engine and reverse to re-install. The RH hood bracket goes on passenger side with ball facing outward. The LH hood bracket does the same thing. Make sure to remove the tape on bracket before mounting to hood. Now when installing the struts. The long one goes on the passenger side and the short one goes on drivers side. I took the prop rod out of hood and held hood open with hand and then attached one strut at a time. Done and enjoy.
Added pics showing the measurement from the fender to end of strut for drivers side. Seems to about 1 1/2 inches. The total hood open is 3 feet from hood latch to hood when opened.

does anyone know where to get 3rd gen tacoma emblem overlays at that's not black? I have a Magnetic Gray Metallic color

 

If the emblems are the same color as truck they'll be invisible.

If your not against plasti-dipping the emblems they make it in a bunch of different colors now and have glossifer to make them look more glossy if thats the look you want.

Got my taco garage DMM installed, pretty slick and very easy to install just waiting for one more part to allow me to mount my GPS.

 

So the struts are different lengths? I ordered these yesterday and did'nt know the struts were different lengths.

 

Did you have to to notch out the passenger side cover so the mounting ball would show through?

 

They will come in box that way as the stud by the airbag is further forward than the drivers side battery wire bolt. Meaning the passenger side requires a longer strut.

 

No, I was able to slip cover back on and slightly raise it above the stud. Very easy to do.

 

Great! I can't wait to get mine installed. That factory hood prop just doesn't raise the hood high enough at all.
