I dont know much about stocks but have been following a few after searching this thread. Wish i had jumped on NCLH a few days ago. At this time its hard for me to justify taking risks as I was let go from my job as have many others. When things do turn around, no guarantee I get old job back.

That sucks, hope your work returns quick. And totally understand not wanting to risk your money at the moment.

Ouch. Been there before. If I may offer a piece of unsolicited advice - take the perspective that your job right now is finding new employment somewhere. Do something towards that every day.

Had some folks let go from my company this week, and others getting a pay cut for a while (including me)

I'll tell you this. I wish I would've learned this years and years earlier in life. You be you, you be honest to yourself and others, and do good constantly. You don't need to justify yourself or what you do to anyone, even less here. You've never struck me as a fibber or exaggerater since I've read your posts on this thread starting weeks back.
I only say this because far too many times over the years I've skipped telling someone something I felt I should have. Nobody will remember what you did but they will remember how you made them feel.
Also, on topic of those skipped times of saying something, I was gonna tell you a couple days ago:
Congrats, I've never seen you once break character in this thread regarding your points of view on investing and world events and all that jazz. Never once. So that tells me you're true to what you post. You certainly strike me as a level headed, down to earth, honest and caring type of person(you might think those traits are common in folks but I assure you they are not)
I'm just some nobody on the internets, but I'm a nobody that's noticed you're a cool dude

That's enough of that, back to the doom and gloom we all come to this thread for:D

Thank you, that means a lot. I definitely rub people the wrong way sometimes, and I know that. I do, however, stay true to what I believe. It'd rather be respected by a few than try to make everyone happy.

Don't put money into the market you can't afford to have disappear tomorrow. It is (a safer, but still is) a gamble, and you can lose. I'm sorry you lost your job, but now is not the time to put that money into the market.

I bought CCL and NCLH 4/7, could have been better but they're both doing good from that. NCLH is up 19% since I bought. o_O

Hated for who you are vs liked for who you are not. If someone doesn't like me, tough. I am not here to please them. :D

I will have to dig around on my brokerage site. There are so many tools that I don't know how to use, I'm sure it's there.

I got my LLC at 1030am and they issued stay at home orders at 5pm that day LOL!!!!
Part that sucks is I'm in workplace health and safety consulting so if I was in a corporate role I would be busy as hell right now! So this should be a boom time, but I cant network at local trade events and I'm stuck in stupid beaurocratic internet rules, so the only presence I have is on LinkedIn. I'm banking on clients taking off when companies are prepping to open back up late spring and summer. This will sound horrible, but I'm hopeing that OSHA goes a little crazy responding to employee complaints because I will (hopefully) be busy.

The reopening of the economy is going to be a huge deal. Probably a parade and fireworks and a lot of patriotic stuff. You should be good when that happens. That’s a big “when” though.

Hopefully I'll get some leading indicators with some company's prepping and needing some consulting. I saw some estimates from a meeting my wife was on "at work", looks like they (cdc/gov) are going to phase in the opening. I guess we will see!!

then the best day...oh shit there’s no people we fired them all. Stocks are empty we don’t have anything because we cancelled all the orders. Woops.

they should roll the economy back in a wave. Start at the base of the supply chain and work up. But, whatever. It’s going to be a long time before our economy is back. On the surface and in stock prices it won’t take long. But for actual day to day operations to be running full steam and on time again that’s a year or two once the green flag waves.

It looks like they will phase it in, however it's probaby a bunch of non business lifelong beaurocrats making the calls, so who knows how that will go.

You are right it will be pretty whacky for a while.

It won’t be the smoothest thing in the world, but I expect to see record hiring just like the record unemployment. It won’t be immediate but I anticipate it will be faster than some are forecasting.

yeah, that’s the bit that isn’t talked about much.

Flattening the curve is intended to keep medical services from being overwhelmed with a spike and have tons of folks they can’t treat.

Slowing the spread keeps the rates within capacity, thereby increasing outcomes.

Doesn’t mean folks aren’t gonna catch it eventually. Only a vaccine will do that.

Yea the whole flattening the curve was to spread out the same amount of infected over a longer period of time so you dont overrun the healthcare system. The reality is most people at some point will be exposed to it.

If you want some good informative, slightly nerdy and scientific explanation of the disease and how we are combating it watch the medcram youtube series on this. They update it daily. It helps put some perspective around what's going on without all the hype or downplaying (both sides are guilty IMO). Plus it's cool learning how viruses and the body works explained by a doctor. Theres like 56 videos on this now.
