You ought to try it with some scrap pieces.

That should go together nicely especially with a backer as per our discussion. when you put the backer plate n it may also help to tack n a support rod from the frame to the bottom of the fender for a little added support while stitching the panels. It could be easily removed when your panel grafting is done. I just kinda figure it will help support the shape of the panel I would leaveit in until done with the filler work also as it will keep the panel from flexing and worse vibrating while you are working it. Just a thought

We discussed the panel bonding adhesive last night. Dupont 8115 If you were to scuff and clean the composite bed and use a backer plate along the seam put the 8115 in between the composite and the plate when you rivet the bed together between the plate , rivets, and 8115 you will have a strong joint

I am happy to just like you would help me. I only wish you were closer so I could be hands on there ae different little tricks that sometimes are hard to explain. I am assuming the seam in your picture where you riveted the bed back together has a backing plate bridging the seam and you ran the rivets through the bed and the plate. All I am suggesting is remove the rivets, scuff the underside of the bed and clean it, do the same to the backer plate, apply the 8115 on one or the other, and rivet back together. We used to have to attach 5'x10' aluminum panels with 300-400 rivets and we used the same principle. Thanks god for pneumatic riveters. A small one may be a good investment. I would consider aluminum self sealing rivets also.

Ordered steel for the rear bumper. Add in the weldable hitch and the recovery points and it's going to be about $300 all in for a rear bumper. Not too shabby.
