Okay thanks, back to deciding base+DI or powermax again lol.
I guess the state of this epidemic in a couple months will decide for me.

Sounds to me like you have 4 options. Go with option 1 or 3 can be upgraded from 1 > 2 and 3 > 4 with fuel upgrades?

    1. Base kit (low boost) / (drop-in upgraded Fuel Pump)
    2. Base Kit with upgrade Fuel (high boost) / (Fuel Pump, upgraded DI injectors)
    3. Powermax with base fuel (low boost) / (fuel pump, required DI Injectors)
    4. Powermax with upgraded fuel. (high boost) / (fuel pump, upgraded DI and PI injectors, proprietary fuel pump controller)

Is this correct? (so sorry if this has already been covered)

I think this is correct but I've had some questions based on Mat's listing online. @OVTune can you clear something up?

Based on the screenshotted and highlighted section, the text first says the items are included in the powermax kit for 5200$, but then you have to buy them separately? Which is it?

    Screenshot_20200409-155941.jpg

If they're included for $5200, then the powermax low boost is a better option compared to the base + DI which comes out to $5500? Correct me if I'm wrong.

I don’t think the DI are included with the powermax.
    According to the updated webpage:

    Base kit: $4399 w/tune
    Base+DI=$4399+$1849 = $6248

    Powermax: $5908 w/tune
    Powermax + DI(required) = $7757
    Powermax + D4-S = $8696

so for people like me deciding between the Base+DI it would be $6249 vs $7757. Difference of $1509

    Or for current OVTuned customers:

    Base: $3650
    Base + DI : $5500
    Powermax + DI : $7050

Hmmmmmmm....so maybe the base and base + DI kits really are the more attractive kits overall, especially if you're actively trying to save money when compared to the Magnuson Supercharger for example.

it is not included, sorry I need to update the listing.

Hopefully this clears it up? sorry I didn't think it would be this confusing

    1. Base kit. Nothing else 6.5 psi limit
    2. PowerMax kit + required option (DI) ~ 9.5psi standard - 15 psi limit.
    3. Base kit + DI option = boost range 6.5 to 14 psi
    4. Power Max kit + option (DI + PFI + In Tank) = As much boost as the engine can handle
    4. Base kit + option (DI + PFI + In tank) = ... not recommended but as much boost as the base twins can provide.

2 in 1 out intercooler will actually be more difficult to setup so not going to do that. I like how I have the hot piping done.

With vf tuner coming out I'm assuming current ovtune customers still have to pay for calibration or buy vf tuner and tune it yourself. Otherwise it would be cheaper now with more components than was originally priced without the oil pan and new in tank pump.

Buy vF Tuner and use the provided example Forced Induction tune, if you have nothing. Or if you have our flash kit, the tune comes with the kit.

Right but I think the confusion is what is listed as calibration. Do current ovtune customers need to add the optional calibration or not is where some people are getting confused.

Sorry, correct me if I’m wrong, but I think I remember reading somewhere deep in this thread that the turbos
that come with the base kit are only good to about 350whp?

Was thinking an intercooler with this shape and configuration would be easiest to install since the inlet/outlet tubes can be routed around the radiator. Question is if this size/style intercooler will be capable with OVT's system.

Not a mechanic or engineer, so is there a way to compare how efficient or effective intercoolers of different sizes are? Not looking to go above 14 psi of boost so willing to sacrifice some cooling ability if this set up will work. Screen Shot 2020-01-03 at 8.19.32 AM.jpg

Suggestion, sell the base kit with the DI with the wastegates set for 10psi ish. Or get questioned a 1000 times about setting boost on the upgraded base kit. Just a thought as I have seen the same scenario with sled turbo kits. At least then the tune could be set up by yourself to avoid any issues.
    Just a thought.

That pic is of my 2nd gen with a rotrex. Can’t remember the size or specs of the intercooler tho.

    further to post #6598

I see a "boost" advantage to the base kit in low rpm (highlighted yellow)
    everything crosses over at ?1800rpm

Curious as to how this translates into low rpm torque comparison, as the powermax are more efficient. OVTUNED, do you plan on publishing dyno curves? Stupid question probably, as these will eventually make the rounds. I'm interested in the whole torque curve, not just peak numbers in post #1 spool.jpg

I've driven vehicles where boost ramps up quick (all sports cars however), and while great for Shts and giggles, and a kick in the ass, it might not be practical for steady delivery of power. Thinking about the best solution for towing. #notracetruck

I stand ready to be corrected :)

It boosts so quickly at 1700 rpm that I don't you will notice the power surge that I think you are referring to from turbo lag. This will literally be spooled and at peak boost at like 5 mph during normal driving conditions by the sounds of it. Followed by peak torque shortly after.
