Market is closed tomorrow, so 3 days of sitting idle with news rolling in. After hours now could be a different story Monday morning.

Oh I’m sure it will be!

Here’s what I saw. Perhaps someone more experienced than I can explain.

I tried to put in a mock order and mine says after hours is closed. It shouldn’t be for another minute so I have no idea what’s going on.

And it’s not helpful. I’m finding plenty of “experts” who think we haven’t bottomed out yet. It’s messing with me

Haha In my opinion, nobody knows where the market is going. If they did, couldn't they become trillioniares very quickly? Just go short or long if you know where it's going, and repeat.

Well, I am a know-nothing novice because I thought the market would go down yesterday because of the three day weekend. Crazy. I also shorted NCLH and it went through the roof! Good thing I sold it sooner and in the green though. Just dumb luck.

I have no idea what I'm doing, but we have had a pretty large bounce from the bottom a few weeks ago. The markets keep clawing up, even with bad news. I believe the governor of texas said stimulus checks will start hitting next week. I imagine if they do there will be an uptick. I dont know why, because we cant really do much with ours as most places are closed where I am, but whatever. (Edit: Optimism?) I think we may have some more low days coming, but I think the bottom has been hit.

Edit: that isn't to say we wont be in a recession, I definitely think that this will have a fairly large impact on q1 and depending on how long quarantines continue, this quarter may get bent over a barrel.

....:D I have NCLH (and CCL, thanks to this thread pretty much). Was a nice day yesterday.

Nobody has any idea what they're doing. That's what makes it fun.

I think the bottom has been hit, but I also do think there will be some more downswings as well.

An interesting study I read about really made me realize how hard the market is to predict (I didn't read the study, but have seen it cited). It basically found that looking back over a very long period of time, big news and world events couldn't be used to predict market moves. Even in the past, couldn't predict the market! This makes sense, look at the up days we have on bad news, and down days with no news. There's definitely a psychological factor involved in the markets, maybe the biggest driving factor, but I am not sure if that can even be understood.

A current new factor is also computerized trading. Where algorithms watch for blips, they can cause some crazy swings up/down when it wouldn't have happened otherwise - it would just be a random small blip up/down.
