think about this every time I see a raptor. I really love the way they look but I don’t think I could bring myself to spend 75k when my taco is damn near perfect for what I need and trouble free.

I feel the same way. Not only 75k, but likely to break down after 100k miles too haha

I think part of the charm of my 2006 is the fact that it is underpowered. I feel that’s one of the main reasons of engine longevity. They are not trying to eek out every bit of juice.

mpg is “okay” on my truck.

a turbo on a small motor. Nice, but there is no free lunch. You’re giving up something. Maybe reliability, or longevity. Dunno.

2nd kid on the way, floated the idea of going full size (crewmax tundra, possibly gmc 2500 for payload)

5 year old just got into his booster, so no issues with space behind my seat. My wife is 5'2" so no issues with her space even with a big rear facing carseat behind her.

I personalty don't find the second Gen to be under powered at all. The low end torque is really good and the top end is adequate.

I agree. The 4.0 is “well balanced” with allocated power where you need it in the RPM range. I’ve never been in a situation in which I thought it was “underpowered.”

He might have meant “detuned” in which case, yes, he’s probably right.

I have another 100k to 150 miles (10-15 years) before I even consider a “new truck” again.

    True. Detuned. Better.

it isn’t breaking any speed records. I drove a F150 ecoboost and it was really quick.
I love my truck. I’m in no real hurry.

For the long haul. I'll always prefer naturally aspirated engines!!

Maybe not as much power as a turbocharged engine. But much less to worry about down the road as the miles start acumulating

    That's just my feelings :D
