Another point is that healthcare systems are ready for the flu. It's an expected occurrence and they have the beds and equipment to deal with it. With how quickly COVID-19 can spread and the large numbers of infected people that need hospitalization to survive it can overwhelm these systems very easily since hospitals don't generally have a ton of wasted space. When those resources run out then the numbers will start shooting up dramatically. IMO the media panic has really driven home how serious this situation could be without mitigation and most people have responded accordingly. The flu would be just as scary as COVID if we wen't already prepared for it.

The thing about the seasonal flu is that people take it in stride. If we did the SIP every flu season it's safe to say that we wouldn't lose 20,000 to 50,000 people. But it's not practical. I can't tell you how many times I would tell guys at work, if you're sick, Stay the Fuck Home. Don't come in and infect the entire team, you stupid fuck. But they do it anyway. This past Thanksgiving a family member, and her son, were both sick. Dumb fucks. And it started a chain reaction. The wife got sick a week later. Me, a week after that. Then in January Kimberlie got sick again. But this time the symptoms were worse by several factors. As I mentioned before, she was hurting for well over a week, but three days in the middle were very severe. She refused to go to doc, but toughed it out. Coulda been COVID. We'll never know unless she would be tested for antibodies.

As for fighting the China Wu Flu, there are positive results coming from the malaria treatments. There are preventative measures I'm hearing, now as well. One doc is saying about four tablespoons of Schweppes Tonic Water (has quinine in it) per day, along with 150-200 mg of zinc per day helps. It couldn't hurt. I think. I'm no doctor. But trying to read as much about as possible. What else is there to do at home all freakin day.

Also, with my tinfoil hat on I wonder.....

The Coronavirus orginated from the city of Wuhan in China and has now reached every corner of the world, but the virus did not reach China's capital, Beijing and China's Economic Capital Shanghai, located in close proximity to Wuhan itself. Just about every Stock Exchange on the planet was down between 12 and 27%.............. except one. China, which had gains. Minimal, but gains.
The Coronavirus started in Wuhan yet there is no effect of Coronavirus in nearby Beijing or Shanghai but many deaths in Italy, Iran, European countries and USA.
Today Paris is closed, New York is closed, Berlin is closed, Delhi is closed, Mumbai is closed, Tokyo is closed, the world's major economic and political centers are closed, but Beijing and Shanghai are open. No Coronavirus effect is seen in either cities. There were only a few cases but the virus had no real effect on Beijing and Shanghai. Or so we are told.

All very odd. Ok, taking my tinfoil hat off.

I hope everyones family is healthy right now, and I look forward to wheeling with y'all soon!

Cheers, from my family, to yours

False equivalency? Not my intention. Only to show the overall deaths, and numbers lost. And the numbers you state, 3.5%, I believe, are way high. That was the panic prediction, that in fact, scared the shit outta everyone. Additionally, there's no way to really know that number if we don't who may have been infected but, were either unaffected, or symptoms were mild, and no treatment was sought.

So far, that scenario has not materialized. Sure, some would have to be attributed to SIP. And/or, this whole thing has been overblown by the media panic you just mentioned.

    Read this...

I'll grant you, this is just my way of being optimistic. Thinking positive. Everyone is just guessing. Or that is certainly the appearance.

Thanks, but I'm trying to keep my truck on a diet, and would rather go with aluminum or plastic.

I'm currently deciding between the plastic Mountain Hatch and the 1/8" aluminum Pacrax.
With current pricing, the Pacrax seems to be $60 cheaper after shipping and taxes, and it's also lighter in weight.

I really only need a new tailgate skin solution to keep my knees off of the OEM skin once I start using it as an entrance to a camper.

And I still have material left over from my tailgate skin project that you can have. It's not as thick as it looks in this picture, but very easy on the knees. I used the screws that hold down the skin to hold this down, with it. Added some glue, as well.

I could have done a better job laying it down. I know you would.Clearly, you can see a little holiday there. It happened when I torqued down the screw. Probably should have waited for the glue to dry. I was ready for the project to be over. Figured if I got sick of it I could just remove and start over. Never got to that point.

    Question about King suspension.

I don't believe I have more than 20 or 30 thousand miles on mine. And I don't believe I have over abused them. Don't drive fast on a regular basis. In fact, rarely.

So, what should I reasonably expect from them regards service life? Do I just keep them clean, and look for leaks? So far I haven't seen anything unusual.

So UPS just delivered the toilet paper order that @OneGiraffe made with Office Depot the other day...

While on the phone asking for a replacement, she was told that the item was "discontinued" and a refund would have to be the solution. THEN the Office Depot employee tried to only refund the item price, not the shipping charge!
    :smack:
Eventually she got the full refund, but apparently it's in two separate transactions; one for the item refund, and another for the shipping refund.

Just keep an eye on the shafts for small leaks. If there's no leaks just check the nitrogen charge. It should be at about 150 PSI. If it's lower just top it off and check again in a week. As soon as they leak visibly or drop charge fast, rebuild.

I tried to do an online order with my local Safeway. For the first couple times, it was hit or miss. Then recently, I tried again. The delivery was canceled. So, figured I'd make the personal visit yesterday. I was the 9th person in the store. Still, when I got to the paper product isle it was pretty bare. I got one 12 pack of TP. It's all I needed so was happy with that. Needed paper towels and napkins. They had napkins. Got a pack of that. Wife will be happy. I didn't see paper towels, at first. Then grabbed what I thought was a two pack. brain was moving too quickly, and I wanted out of that section. Never have liked having people hovering around me. Sick or not. Got all my other needs. Some shelves were semi bare, so that was disconcerting. Anyway, I get home, I'm unloading my treasure and find that what I thought were paper towels, were actually a eight pack of TP. Damn. Felt bad, as I know the next shopper was going to be deprived. My bad. Then I check email. Safeway confirms they are going to show up this time with an apology for canceling on me the last time. Couldn't remember what my order was as it was over a week ago. Well, wOOt, one of the items is an 8 pack of paper towels. Anyway, I take the extra TP and put it in a cabinet in the garage.

Later a good friend stops by for a beer. I told him to come by as I needed someone other than my wife, or the 8 year old twin boys next door, to talk to. We get to talking about supplies and he mentions that he has a Costco run planned for the next day as they are getting critically low on TP. So, my gift to him was an 8 pack of TP. Man, was he excited. It was funny to see a grown man so excited about toilet paper. Crazy times.

if you look in many areas of the world today, there are a few places with very few cases. There are a lot of reasons why this is-like travel or SIP or lower populations that are spread out. China is kinda interesting. Being a communist country, the party says and you do. So it has that going for it. Then you have the "wave" effect of the pandemic-not everyone got hit at the same time so everyone will be at different stages of infection. I feel like the maps are really just an indication of how people travel the world these days. China's "success" was more their ability to close areas with infection immediately and the fact that people travel to and from that area regularly and to the places that are closed today.
