I'm gonna kick in a vote for the Guerrilla Gravity Trail Pistol. Super capable quiver of one type bike, and you can also spec it as a Pistola which bumps rear travel up to 130, and then increase the fork to a 140.

I was going to mention this. Hell of a price point considering the frame is made in America.

Ok back to wheels...thanks a lot guys....
Say the price point is around $1000 are you going AL with Hyrdra hubs or carbon with Torch hubs? I have a feeling I'd get more out of a lighter wheelset than a bit more engagement (as awesome as the engineering behind hydra is).

I’ll cast a vote for the carbon/torch setup.
120POE is still killer. The weight savings are cool, but the bragging rights of carbon is next level.

Second the reverse mullet. If I wasn’t on my 150/130 Yeti I’d be on a 140/120 Smuggler.

I thought a “mullet” bike was 29 up front and 27.5 in the rear?

Yep. Business in the front (29), party in the rear (27.5). Reverse mullet is more travel up front than the back. All these terms are also up for interpretation as they are made-up.

New sign at the trailhead today. Luckily there was only 6 vehicles there this evening. This weekend will be a different story. 3245C778-D8C1-42DF-93C7-B1AC2D5CA48D.jpg

Great list. Consider adding the Giant Trance 29 to the list. I demoed a few of them last year, and their Maestro suspension performed way beyond what you might expect from the shorter travel. At least give them a test if you can. Having ridden NoVA trails most of my life, I can tell you that the Trance 29 may be the perfect bike for places like Lake Fairfax, Fountainhead, Schaeffer, Rosaryville, etc.

Their full carbon models also start at just $3300, which is a huge bonus IMO.

The trance is definitely an interesting bike that I might need to check out!

Some Ibis 735 rims built on Torch hubs. Realistically I shouldn't be spending that much on wheels right now (even if it's a killer deal). Anyone got a lead on a somewhat lightweight aluminum build suitable for aggressive trail riding? I'd like to stay around a 30mm internal rim width. I'm currently just running 2.3 Minions but the bike frame has room for bigger tires so future flexibility would be nice.
