Hi all, I'm hoping someone can help me out. After 313K miles my trusty Gen 1 Taco has died. :(

I am planning to buy a 2020 Tacoma Access Cab 6 foot bed truck. I really want a manual transmission so I'm going with the TRD Sport.

I want to use BFG Radial AT, but I don't see them available for the 17 inch rims.

Will there be any problems with my rig if I switch to 16 (or 15) inch rims so I can get the tires I want?

    Shouldn't be any issues

Sorry to hear about the Gen 1, Sad day

    No problems.

I run the Toyota TRD Off Road wheels (16") on my 2019 Tacoma, with 265/75/R16 BFG KO2's.

No issues running 16” wheels. I have them on my 2018 Sport. 15’s won’t clear the brake caliper on 3rd gens from what I understand

Edit: what exact size BFGs are you looking for? Thank tons of people run BFG KO2 in a 17”

    Thanks..

    I hadn't decided on a size yet for the 2020 yet, I was running 31- 10.50 -15 on my Gen 1.

I was looking on the BFG website, and the Costco Website and both said that the tire wasn't available for the Sport, I assumed it was due to the rim size. If the KO2 is available for 17 inch rims, that'll open additional options for me (like not necessarily having to buy rims right away)!

I just came out of my 2nd Gen Sport 2 weeks ago. I ran 17 inch BFG KO2's on it for years.

Plenty of great tires to fit the stock TRD Sport wheels. If you really want 16” wheels lots of Offroad take offs at great pricing right now.

If you put in your make and model on the website and couldn’t find anything, it’s because they were only searching for factory tire size (which in that case, BFG may not make a factory size). A lot of people have 265/70/17 BFG’s on their stock wheels which is slightly larger than stock, but will fit just fine

Yes, that's what I did. So not a surprise I got an "unavailable" return. Thanks for the info!

On the side, looks like I, and many others, will be waiting for a while to get a truck. The one I want is an uncommon configuration and has to be assembled to spec. at the plant. Toyota has shut down all manufacturing in North America until early June at the soonest. Dealer said even if ordered now there wouldn't be delivery until July or August at the earliest.

Thinking this might be a sign to not give up on my Gen 1!
