i dont think mat made any derogatory, or disparaging remarks. it was interpreted as that (by Paleh0rse) when mat stated that he has to take the time to completely make another set of tunes for the dongle users who wont update to dongle-less process, and that was what a big slow down in the 2.0 release was. then when Paleh0rse came to this thread and making those accusations, is what has caused this latest blow up. it is all communication people. we need to chill before this gets further out of hand.

$312 vs $511 shipped. I'm assuming both will work. I'm only tuning, using vf, and using techstream on this this. The bigger screen might help when using vf. Any thoughts? @mZiggy @tonered @M1Awolf

Hey guys running beta 19800 87 octane on my 17 taco. Have noticed a fair amount of pinging going on now that temps are in the upper 50s and low 60s and the truck seems drastically retard the timing for a bit to stop it. Wondering if anyone else has had this issue and also wondering if 19800 is still the current beta. Two separate tanks of gas have been doing this btw. Both 87 octane.

 

I wouldn't worry about screen size. You could use a monitor or cast the screen to a smart tv. Screen casting is what I have been using to get work done with the virus situation.

I know that FM and TS does not take much horsepower. They worked just fine on our 10yr old plus laptop.

 

@OVTune, Congratulations. The enemy just won - you alone just did more harm to your brand than any previous gossip or disinformation. As a original dongle user since your first release, I have never gotten the sense that the any of us OG’s have felt neglected. Guess I’ll send the ol’ dongle in. Good luck digging out of this one.

I had pinging on hotter than normal days, but stock and with 1.05. It was much less on the tune. The other crazy part is that OVT said that the ECU stores and uses the last engine cycle atmospheric data. That's a big WTF Toyota?

That might explain it. I usually drive my truck in to work when it’s still in the 30s and then home when it’s in the 60s. Pings fairly bad when it downshifts for a bit then gets all confused on what to do for a few seconds.

That sounds like mine. It was pretty bad on the TSB tune. I have also heard other cars beside me doing it also. It was lessened a lot on the tune and with the resets in FM.

Mine was only on really hot days for this area.

I am looking forward to the summer and see how 2.0 handles it.

 

Be careful on the cheap laptops. Make sure it doesn’t come with windows 10 s. It is a lite version of 10 home. I picked up a Lenovo Yoga on sale. USB 3 worked fine.

 

Yeah mine is doing it on 2.0 19800 87 octane bad at times. I don’t get it.

 

I don't think you need the bigger screen. I've a 10 or 11 inch laptop dedicated for tuning. Use pcmflash and techstream and Google chrome on it. It's a little HP. If you want the specifics on it, PM me and I'll check when I get home today. Cost me like $250

 

Does it have USB port?
