My poor boy Baloo has been miserable lately. He has been breaking out a lot over the last year. Many steroid shots and different antibiotics have worked but only for a short time.
My vet suggested we go to a veterinary dermatologist to get down to what is causing it.

He has really broken out on his belly and armpits and has had no desire to play much. He has been pretty much just been laying around.

We were going to call them back yesterday when they called us with the results of the biopsy. He has MSRP which is an antibiotic resistant bacterial infection. I made a 50 mile round trip to get a specific antibiotic that is made for this. Just three pills in and he is back to his old self. Here he is growl/whining at me to play toss the balloon with him.

His belly has already cleared up pretty much and he is once again craving ice cubes when I go near the fridge. That is a good sign. We still have to go back next week to get him an allergy test to see just what he is allergic to.

It's amazing what modern medicine can do for our pets. Many of the drugs are also used for humans as well. My daughter is a vet-tech, and she travels with the owners of the clinic to trade shows or Pharma presentations. Some of the stuff she shares with us about new drugs or treatments is something we never had an option for twenty or even five years ago! Glad the recovery was soooo quick!
