I need a smaller rear view mirror

I have. I had the truck for a few months, one day realized the mirror was blocking most of a beautiful scenic view to my front right, and couldn't shake the problem since then. Even raising the mirror it blocks more of my view than I want.

BTW, since we're both anonymous internet stranges, I'd like to criticize you in public behind my anonymity. I hate it when people downplay someone else's concern, just because they don't share it. "I've never been in an airplane crash, I don't know why people worry about airplane safety."

Nah, no fireworks. I really don't care.

It was a serious thought. Drove an old 3/4 ton for years like that, as it didn't come with an inside mirror. All I did was add a legit item to the alternatives list.

Maybe he's just grumpy from being locked up. If not, I'll move him to my safe place. ;)

I bought the BirdDawg riser. It doesn't fit my 2019 OR because of window head unit thing. But... I used a Dremel shaved off one of the mounting holes that's only needed if you use the cell-phone-holder adaptor, and it fits fine. I can post a picture if you're interested.

Are they known for breaking windshields?

FWIW it's better, but it still gets in my way.

How tall are you? I’m an average height at 6’ and I think the rear view mirror in these trucks is in a terrible spot, even when adjusted as high as it can go.
In all honesty the rear view mirror and how low the steering wheel sits (I have pretty big legs) are my only two gripes with my truck.

Have you looked at his frameless mirrors? Pricey, but perhaps the overall size is smaller?

    You have the right attitude.
Driving without the center rearview isn't a big deal when you are used to it.

Not criticizing, just simply stating I've never even noticed the mirror size. I never said it's not a problem for some, quit being a snowflake. I don't need to be anonymous to tell you how I feel or to state my opinion.

Funny because I'm also 6' and have large legs (grew up a soccer player and a power lifter). The mirror has probably been in my face and I never thought twice about it, now it's probably going to drive me nuts

Seriously.. using the pivot closest to the windshield.. push the mirror all the way up and then using the pivot closest to the mirror.. adjust it to your liking.. it pushes it up 2+ inches and out of the way. I had your concern when I picked up my 17.. then read that very same tip on here and it hasn't been a problem since.

Same here, until finding this forum I had no idea how little Toyota knew about designing trucks.

Dear me, I am indeed flustered. I just don't know what to do. I've not only been called a Nervous Nancy on Tacoma World, I've now been called... I just don't know if I should even say it out loud... I've now been called a Snowflake.

    Friday indeed.

Im 6'-2". The mirror is fine. Find something else to focus on. Like a hobby or something.

We aren't the same size and it's not a comparison . My concern is seeing stuff come from the right. There's a definite field of view problem for me. I wasn't trying to find a problem with everyone's beloved tacos. Also, I have plenty of hobbies and was only looking for specific input hoping someone had some input which a few really have!

I'm going to look into this, thank you!

I am going to start with this.

I agree, if the wheel telescoped out farther it would help me. Also, in my mirror, the rear seat headrest take up about a lot of the real estate of each side the mirror which is also useless unless you want to look at people's faces in your back seat or something.

Side note, I wasn't trying to irritate anyone with my thread or what I don't like about my truck. I was hoping someone would go oh me too so I did this or something.

So it works on a 3rd gen too? Their site only mentions 2nd gems specifically.

I don’t get the big deal, just find a mirror you like and use it. It’s as simple as that. There are only about 3 different types of mounting tabs, so if the mirror you pick doesn’t fit the Tacoma tab, go to the parts store get the right tab (or a variety pack of 3) and replace the tab. They are simply as shit to replace. Get a blow torch, heat the tab for about 2~3 seconds, then twist it with pliers (twist don’t pull). Clean windshield, follow instructions on sticking new tab on.
Seriously you could have replaced it quicker than reading this thread.
