This is what I did and then also cut a piece from the floor of the section I cut out and put it under the two pieces in the bed to fill any gaps and make it easier to weld instead of trying tI make a piece form to the floor of the bed

Myself flap discs why are you having problems??

For blending you can get a finer grit to allow you to make things pretty .

The only downside to CO2 is much more splatter . I used CO2 for years with no shielding issues .

The blended gas was tried as a means to save clean up time on production welds and charge lots more money.

Are your plastic bottles going to live in the truck or just be put in for adventures??

I have had problems if they can move in the carrier given time they will rub through even faster if exposed to road dirt at all

Unless you had plans to enclose them in a layer of closed cell foam so they can`t move.

Not sure what was worse going for the product when needed or the big mess.

No idea how these prices compare to others but I just ordered my steel for the rear bumper. Bought online and will pick up in-store to save $35. Between the weld-in hitch and recovery points, I'll have about $300 into this.

Thanks all! Yah, going to try finer grit, and newer disks. Looking at them they're all worn to hell so i think i've been grinding not exactly where i expect....

They will be put on when PreRunning in Baja. They fit tight as possible. The boxes will most likely be bolted to the bed somehow. Not until I rip the bed apart I will be welding them.

It could be the same set, just with a sign that says, "not the same set".

hahahaha!!! I realized after that my post was misleading. The 2 pictures there are the same set but the 1st picture was a nicer picture and the second picture was just showing that wasn’t the same set as all the other pictures that I post that look exactly the same hahaha!

Thanks man!! Haha for sure, I’m always stoked to see the cool things you’re working on. Got anything planned that will be for yourself coming up soon?

My main focus is on tools, work space, and storage around the shop when it comes to fab stuff for me. I just found out today that my work is putting all critical field employees on a 2 week on/ 2 week paid time off schedule for the next month or two so they can minimize the chances of the whole work force getting infected. I’ve got a ton of parts for my truck, but really haven’t had to time to think up a game plan. Maybe if I end up with some free time I’ll come up with some designs and work on my pos.

I've got 2 of those purple things and I'd rather have a stick in my eye than use them. lol. Maybe I got a bad one buy they just don't work for me. Of course I'm a little impatient tho.

Looks about right. I get a decent deal at Metal Supermarket in St. Louis. I probably pay a little more but customer service is outstanding. Less than $300 for a bumper.....sheeeeeeettttt. I tell folks they will run out of money long before I run out of steel. LMAO.
