I think the most scared I've been on my bike was when I was on a open stretch of road I had to be doing like 150ish mph on a slight hill took me a couple of sec to realize on the down grade my front wheel was off the ground friend riding next to me I seen his eyes like what the fuck. Then it hit me I was wheelie down the hill at over 150mph.

Another one from the "Tales From the Rental Counter" archives.

I've worked for Daytona H-D a few times, generally while I was in between jobs in my primary field (some companies require a buffer period where you can't move straight from one company to the next in the same position due to non-compete agreements, etc). During my first stint in 2006, bike rentals were done from the original Daytona H-D location in downtown Daytona Beach, but not at the Destination Daytona location. As with most small businesses, when things are slow employees will be assigned different tasks to help out other departments.

One day I was sent up to Destination to help out with moving bikes from the service lanes downstairs to the service corral upstairs. With the design of the building, you would ride through the detailing area, make a sharp right onto a long ramp that went to the service area upstairs, making another sharp right at the top of the ramp. Beyond the top of the service ramp, there was about 15 feet of open area then plate glass windows overlooking I-95. Because of the two blind corners, the policy was to give a double blip of the horn before getting on the ramp and before pulling off the ramp. It was a pretty long ramp since the ground floor had the typical high ceilings that you usually see in a dealership, and it was pretty common to get on the throttle a bit to scoot up the ramp (hence the previously mentioned unintentional wheelie on the FLHP).

Back then, there was more than just Harleys sold at Destination. Shelly Rossmeyer had a dealership onsite selling Buell, Ducatti, Triumph, and American Ironhorse choppers and the service department serviced them all. One of the bikes I moved that day was a very slick Ironhorse Tejas. I got to the bottom of the ramp, hit the horn button, and nothing. That would happen every now and then, so we would just rev a few times. I pulled onto the ramp and was headed up. Near the top, I hit the horn again (muscle memory), got nothing, so I revved again, then made the quick right turn and headed to the service corral. As I was hopping off of the bike, one of the techs came over, looked at the bike, then looked at me with concern on his face and asked, "You didn't hit the horn button did you?" I replied with, "Yeah. I hit it but nothing happened." He gave the bike a good once over, shook his head, and hit me with this gem, "Good thing the nitrous wasn't armed. The horn is the nitrous button." So I was one toggle switch away from shooting nitrous into a 107" S&S hot rod at 3/4 throttle while driving up a ramp towards a plate glass window...

How are you loving it? I am hoping to get the black one with red frame the new 2020. They added 100ccs displacement and cruise control basically

It's pretty nice. Pretty nimble and fun to ride. Cruise control will be nice.
Unfortunately, I dropped it on my foot (low speed low side), so riding is postponed for a few weeks until I heal. The stock tires aren't good. I have Pirelli Scorpions going on as soon as I'm on my feet again. And new riding boots are on my short list.

Honda traditionally throws Dunlop whenever possible. Luckily there's a huge aftermarket for those bikes. As soon as my dunlops burned off my 600RR I threw on Pilot Powers. Had Pilot Powers on the Ducati as well. Still working on the first set of tires on the CRF250L. Haven't ridden as much in the last couple years. About 8 years ago I was hit by a commercial truck flatbed while dude was on his phone and right leg went under back wheels of the truck, massive crush injury. It was one day I wasn't riding with the hard shell Alpinestars... still would have been messed up but not as much. Luckily had full gear otherwise.

Those are real road oriented looking ones, too. Surprising choice by ma red for the AT.

A month or two ago I spooned on a Dunlop Trailmax Mission and have been pretty happy with it. Better wet grip that K60's, better all around than the Motoz Tractionator GPS I had on before that. I'd call it an 80/20 tire though, far from 50/50.

Haven't tried the Scorpions though @ajmogen, I want to say they come stock on a few flavors of GS'es.

Rainy day quarantine project. Needed a place to hang the helmet in my shop that wouldn’t get in the way. The black pipe means I’ve been on Etsy too much but I like it.

Looks good. I prefer to have mine sit on the shell though to prevent the padding from getting worn down.

I have too many helmets. I keep like 4 at my house and the rest are at different family members houses. I should just sell my lady's, she's never going on a bike again after the wheelies.
