PO had a crappy auto zone "carbon fiber" knob on the high/low selector. It has bothered me since day one but not enough to change it. Finally pushed me over the edge, so I added some bling.

Looks great! I'm looking for a couple that are a bit smaller than usual but haven't had any luck finding any. Makes me wish I had a lathe!

Yeah this one is bigger than expected, but I think it looks good so I still like it.

I ran a pretty neat trail this last weekend out here. Couple it with a few others in the same area I've ran recently and it could be a good day. Nothing terribly challenging but had a little bit everything. Once this garbage ends, or sooner, we need to get a run going.

Anyone in here setup a sprinkler system for their lawn? Like from nothing? Or have a good landscaping company they’d recommend? New digs is all dirt out back but would like to have some grass. Just don’t know if we want to tackle it ourselves or pay someone to handle it.

Hope everyone is holding up good with all this shit!

Setting up the backflow is a little bit of a PITA otherwise it's pretty straightforward. Rent a ditch witch to run your lines.

Pretty much what @la0d0g said. If you do the back flow yourself make sure it's 12" above the highest section of irrigation line. It can be a bit of a pain if you're yard is sloped.

The landscaping at our place was dead when we bought it so we were basically starting fro scratch. I ended up doing subsurface drip on the lawn and it's held up pretty well. Our water bill isn't too crazy in the summer either and we can water whenever...no sprinklers means you can be on the lawn when it's getting water and nosy neighbors can't call you in for watering on non-water days.

Just noticed my third brake light is leaking and getting my headliner wet. Apparently a common problem on turd gens. Between that and the fucking oil leak Dolan refuses to fix, which also looks semi common, I’m not a happy camper with my truck right now.

Timing chain cover leaks. I’ve had it in 3 times now and they give me a different story every time. First they said it was foreign material that just got flung up so they cleaned it off. Then they acknowledged it was a leak and put UV dye in and said to come back in 1k miles. Then when I came back they said there was no trace of UV dye and it was too slow of a leak to diagnose or fix. But I just looked at it again and it looks like it’s getting worse.

I should look into doing this. How was the install? I have such a small lawn it would make more sense than the sprinklers that are installed, plus it's on a slope so I have to run them in short intervals otherwise it all just runs off.

I assume you could convert an existing lawn but we were installing new turf at the same time. Since you are on a slope it should be easy to put a drain on the low point. My recollection is that you run the dripline across the slope so you will run two PVC mainlines down the hill with the drip line between them.

We installed the dripline, then filled with 3 inches of top soil and rolled the sod over that. The depth of the dripline, emitter spacing, and emitter volume are dependent on soil type. Googling 'turf grass subsurface irrigation' should get you all the info. That's what I did after getting an estimate from a contractor for the install and they wanted $10,000 for the irrigation at our place.

Purchased all our stuff from the backflow to the dripline and all the connectors at Ewing irrigation. If you're on city water you don't need a filter so spend that $150 on beer and meat to bbq instead. We bought the filter because there were some concerns of deposits from the old waterline flaking and clogging emitters but the filter failed after 2 years and everything has been fine in the 5 years since. We did have to use overhead sprinklers to get the lawn established and I drag them out in the spring before we turn the irrigation back on.

Tues/thurs/sat or wed/fri/sun depending on odd or even address number with no landscape watering on Monday. Our neighbor was reported for watering their lawn every day and got a courtesy notice from TMWA. :bananadead:

The watering days and recommend times seem silly but they actually play a really crucial role in how we operate the distribution system as far as filling tanks/reservoirs throughout the area. It all has to do with the cost of the power to move the water and when it’s cheapest to do so.

This sucks, I've seen a handful of complaints about that brake light letting water in but they've all been 2016. I'm crossing my fingers & praying it's not all 3rd gens
