I have a 07 Tacoma with a bad abs relay which is located in the abs module itself. I was wondering if anyone has ever wired an external relay in the harness?

    Nope.

Are you still working on this problem? Did you check a wrecking yard or ebay for an ABS Controller...

Not having a schematic of the circuit inside of the ABS Controller it might be a problem getting the correct relay and possible finding what relay it is, as there is probably more than one.

It is much more complex than the drawing provided.

My ABS module crapped out and abs + parking brake lights triggered on. I couldn’t pass safety check. Found a used module had a shop install it $300 total. I probably could have done it myself for $100 less but didn’t have time. A new module was hella expensive I think it was $1000???

    Yes they are quite pricey.

If it were mine and I didn't have the cash or didn't want to spend the cash for a new or used controller. I'd just pull the ABS fuse(s) and call it a day. After all I drove for many years without ABS or Disc Brakes. With the fuses pulled you can pretend you have gone back in time. The brakes will function as just normal old fashioned brakes.
