I am trading in my 09 access cab prerunner, for a 2011 double cab 4x4 tx trd edition in black. The dealership will pay off my trade and also throw in a 3" lift and the out the door price is 500.00 over invoice at 31,685.00 + tax.The deal is amazing and to think i went to see the tundras but just love the tx trd edition in black.I'm going to try to get them to put on some bfg all terrains,First off the reason i'm trading is because access cab space is just not cutting it.

#1, you can do much better, unless there are some accessories/options you're not listing.

#2, how does this affect your financial situation?

#3, The TX package is a waste of money, you can do better with that dollar amount after market.

terrible deal... unless you're upside down on your current truck

you do know that they are gonna "throw in" a $300 spacer lift and bill you for $2,000... because thats a helluva mark-up...

Does this "invoice price" include holdback and flooring assistance? They will get that refunded once the truck is sold.

It sounds like you are getting hosed on your trade AND the "invoice +$500." Most people get hosed on trades. They fight on the price of the vehicle, then when it comes time to evaluate the trade, they simply say okay.

Concur with all the "You are getting hosed" evaluations. You can get a cheaper simpler package and get more for your money aftermarket.

If you are in a situation where you need to trade up you gotta do it smart.

They will also throw in some free air for your tires if you ask. You need to check Edmonds.com TMV price for this vehicle. You should not pay any more than the TMV.

I have always bought vehicles for much less than TMV. Usually 800-1000 less. I would consider TMV the maximum you should pay. At least IME.

Of course I paid sticker for one vehicle (it was a limited edition and nobody would negotiate on it).

General rule of thumb... Dealers are there to make a profit on anything they do, they will never lose money or just break even on any "deal" they make you.

you can do MUCH better. That 500 over invoice is crap. I will tell you that true invoice (what the dealer paid for it) for my 07 TRD off road 4x4 back when I bought it new was a tad under 26k. My uncle worked at the dealer and let me see what they had in it. just letting you know.

    ^^^^This

I was quoted $1295+tax for a 2" lift on the new 2011 TRD DCSB I just ordered. When I inquired about the lift kit that they use, they said:

    I wouldn't.

Why can't I stop?
I would venture to say that with the information you gave nobody here has given you accurate advice...... I'm not looking to pick a fight but without knowing the full information on your trade in truck it is impossible to say if this deal is good or not.

Sure the price of the truck may be questionable at 500. over invoice and yes there is holdback and finance reserve that get paid back to the selling dealer in 30-60 days, so there is more potential profit there although without knowing the type of 3' lift they are adding included into that price it's hard to speculate that they haven't already eaten into some of that "profit".

The trade factor is the biggest variable and your payoff being lower or higher than the actual trade offer is the biggest factor. Without the payoff and offer nobody can say if this is a good deal or not.

You could use sources like Truecar, Edmunds, KBB etc... to find both an accurate price on the new truck and a fair trade in value on yours. This would be a lot wiser strategy than just asking for more.

I should disclose that I do work at a Toyota Dealership, but I'm not in your market area so have nothing to gain by giving you this info.....I just happen to understand how car deals work and didn't want to see you get talked out of buying the truck you want on speculative information.

The thing you have going for you is that Toyota dealers are all over the place. If one doesn't play ball, try another, then another. Within a specific region (i.e., gulf coast toyota) they can trade trucks between lots or pull from the regional distributor. Good luck!

And don't throw a spacer lift on such a nice truck!
