My truck got hit sometime last night while parked on the street. The driver left the scene, but we were able to track their antifreeze/car part trail to about 10 blocks away where they ditched their car. Police still haven't found the driver, so we'll see where that goes.

Anyway... Now I need to figure out how to get it fixed. I'm fully insured including uninsured motorist so I'm covered. Hoping it won't be too much of a pain getting it fixed with the coronavirus happenings.

The first question: The hit was pretty hard. Any non-obvious things I should make sure get checked out? Body mounts?

The second question is, is there anything I should try to upgrade (assuming I'd pay any delta from fixing with stock parts)?

Anyone have experience getting insurance repairs with non-stock parts?

The bumper obviously needs to be replaced... SSO slimline?

At least the driver side headlight is shot, maybe mounts for the passenger one. Maybe upgrade to the 2020 LEDs?

Fog lights - both shrouds are shot, driver's light mounting ears are broken. Baja SAEs?

TRD Pro skid plate is bent up. I already have a CBI mid skid - go with their front?

    Thanks!

The only answer to this is to contact your insurance company. They will walk you through everything.
All insurance companies aren’t the same as far as how they replace aftermarket parts.
Asking here isn’t going to give you an accurate answer. Only your insurance company can give you an accurate answer.

Looks like they drive for Lyft. Man sorry that happened. Happened to me a year ago while I was away at work. Luckily my roommate was home and the girl stayed and owned up.

Looks like the Camry is totaled, is it a stolen car?

My assumption is that my insurance company will try to steer me in the direction of the cheapest repair shops and be of little help in getting stock parts replaced with non-stock ones. I was hoping someone would have had experience with this kind of thing.

And no idea on the car, it's still sitting in the neighborhood about 10 blocks from my house. Police didn't mention it having been reported stolen.

You insurance can’t tell you where to get it repaired. Not sure where you’re located, in Texas by law I can take to where I wish the repair to be done and have OE parts used. Also the police have the ability to tell you if the car is insured and give you the insurance info. If they documented in their report that the Camry hit your truck can file the claim against the cars insurance. Good luck.

I got rear ended a few years ago, I found a repair shop recommended from a friend and there was no problem getting a steel bumper with tire carrier, you just have to find a repair shop you trust and make sure you tell them your intentions on what you want replaced and with what

Insurance will cut you/the body shop a check. Tell the body shop you plan to use some of that money for aftermarket parts. Have then fix what is needed and do the rest yourself. Some body shops will even install the aftermarket stuff for you in place of the OEM stuff.

Yup. They have their recommended shops, but I can get it repaired wherever I want. Since the police haven't found the driver they don't have any insurance information for the car yet.

Yeah... Not looking to pocket anything out of this. Just figure if the body shop will pay $ for a stock part and I can pay the difference to get an upgrade, now is the time to do it.

Ahh. In Texas your insurance is in a central system. With the license plate or vin they can see if it’s insured.

Hope the steering gear and front drive isn’t jacked up. The tires seem to be going in different directions. Good luck.

Good to know. Exactly what I'd like to do!

I don't think anything that far back was damaged - pretty sure that's just the angle of the photo and the Ackerman of the steering at full lock.
