I'd check the oil level and see if it's overfull prior to taking it in. After checking the oil level I would take it to the dealer.

Not sure if it's the dealership's policy but they keep hounding me to get it serviced and on top of that, my maintenance reminder/indicator lit up at 5K.

That is the first thing I checked and from what I can see, seems just a little over the last (full) hash mark. Dealership performed the oil change and on my service report it stated "6 qts." of oil.

    It's complicated.

Did they say why they did the oil change?

My 2019 Tacoma just hit 5,500 miles, and at the 5k service appointment (the first week of January) the dealership confirmed that the oil isn't changed until 10k miles. The dealership checked the fluid levels, rotated the tires, checked the brake pads, and that was pretty much it.

So should oil be changed at 5k or 10k?

Only reason I was told that it's either 10 months or 10k miles. Service report indicated that oil and filter was changed. The oil (from the dip stick) looks clear so I am assuming it was changed. Same thing with the wife's IS300, 6 months or 5K miles and oil/filter was changed at 6 months 4k miles.

I'm just curious if they stated that the oil change was a necessity, nothing more. But as you didn't have an oil leak before the service, all signs point to they messed up something.

I would agree with others who said to not take any long trips, and get it into the dealership as soon as possible--and get a loaner from them.

Good luck. Let us know what happens.

I can only think of one thing where the dealership can mess up and that it was overfilled with oil but I have been driving daily for three weeks and didn't notice any difference. Am sure it will get fixed under warranty, I'm mostly annoyed because of the inconvenience and I have trust issues with dealership keeping my truck overnight. I purchased the truck from the same dealer so I have faith they will make it right.

Yeah that's really weird man. The odds of going 5k miles -- no leaks -- then getting your truck serviced and suddenly there's drips on the ground within a couple weeks? 2+2 = dealer did something.

But maybe it is the rear seal, who knows.

Your receipt/invoice should show you whether they changed the oil, but it’s a moot issue, wouldn’t cause this.

Yes, the invoice showed oil and filter was changed. Have an appointment Thursday to bring it in. Just hoping it wouldn't take long to fix.

I feel ya. Let us know how this turns out. I don’t think it will take long, as long as they don’t have to order parts.

Thank you brother. Slot opened up tomorrow morning so the wife will bring it in. I’ll have her show the photos where it’s leaking so hopefully that will speed up the process and to let them know that I’m aware.

Didn’t see any drop of oil on the floor today so I’m guessing that the leak intensifies when the truck is moving.

After mentioning three to four times and producing photos of where the possible leak is coming from...was told the rear main seal is not leaking? I've also looked at each side of the bell housing and there is no indication that oil is dripping on the sides. smh

    Any update on your leak?

I was checking out the underbody of mine now that the weather is nicer. Around that same plastic cover was the slightest hint of wetness. Wondering if I should pull that cover and have a peak.
