Not to sound conceited but yes, this.

My job is already the "scary guy" for contractors cause I'm who overall decides if what they build gets signed off and bought. That coupled with being large, I have a few places where plant managers won't even come talk to me. They will send someone else, usually a woman (who I don't ever have this issue with) and they take care of the business instead. I have legit had lower level people say "Yeah he won't come talk to you because he's scared"... I can be a dick though so I guess that's part of it lol

But what's worse is the men who are always trying to upstage me or act tough/better than me. Like they see me and instantly puff out their chest and start strutting. I am constantly getting looks from men I don't even know where they look at me like I just fucked their mother and they want to hurt me. It's hilarious

I never thought about that. I am not huge by any means, but I can tell you my industry is mainly drunks who are out a shape (weird when you climb 300' several times a day) but it's true.

I also think sometimes in this industry, working through the ranks is bad. Because, people like me have empathy, and empathy can affect the 'business'. However, the empathy on my side I always see more loyalty and a better outcome from it. However, when you're in the office at executive level, they only see business.

my favourite is every guy who has a buddy “like your size/shape but bigger” I get that so often it’s comical...I’m not a monster so it could be true sometimes, but why mention it at all?

Eh, a basic understanding of electrical and you aren't afraid to get dirty they'll hire you. Just apply, the industry has an incredible demand for techs, we can never stay filled.

The fact that I lift is what got me my current job, and probably what got me let go at my prior job. I think it depends on the manager. My current manager is a gym rat and we hit it off in my interviews and spent more time shooting the shit than we did discussing the job. My last manager never touched a weight in her life and despised the fact that I used my lunch hour to lift AT THE ON SITE COMPANY GYM. Sorry, I’m not mad about it or anything...

What's the heaviest item you have in your garage? Can you pick it up and put it back down? Toss it over your shoulders and squat it? OHP it? You got woods nearby? I bet there is a downed tree somewhere in there. Take a hand saw (part of the activity), commandeer a log, drag it home, workout with the log. Even pipe with some wood crates or something that you can load up would work. I saw other people using the large water jugs with handles (21lb) as DBs. I know 21 is probably beneath you but it's something.

You can do it man. I've seen some awesome, ingenious things popping up on the fitness reddits and DIY pages for gym items.

I cant wait to see what you come up with!

I just raked my lawn to prep for laying new seed. I’m not sure if it qualifies as home improvement or fitness

But either way it ends the same

That really sucks. Suckiest to not get feedback..always makes me suspicious. I've dealt with this in my unit several times, either "a stronger candidate" or complete bullshit feedback (such as, 'oh the person knew XYZ application' which I also knew and sold myself on in the interview)..usually the common thread is the other areas promote from within or my unit which it's all nepotism.

Definitely follow on that one though..can't hurt.

Growth or maybe he can steer you in some way.

Its a pond not a lake. But still ponds make better neighbors than people.

My neighbor keeps seeing me try to fix up my yard. Last year was all new landscaping this year I’ve got to fix the grass.

He comes over and makes some snide ass comment I should get an irrigation system like him.

His lawn looks worse than mine.

I told him, irrigation systems don’t work if you don’t use them and to...
    Be well :)

I wish I had no neighbors.
