    NOT ENTRIES:

I've seen more than 50 baldies picking through cow shit in a freshly fertilized field before. And on rivers it always amazes me how much energy they expend trying to steal a fish rather then catch their own.

But they still are hard to get close to and a good shot, similar to stalking a deer

Don't agree with Ben Franklin's choice of the wild turkey either though. Ruff grouse would be my choice.

In the late 60's had a lot of Osprey in the North first picture of a bird I ever took was with a Polarid camera and an osprey on the creek behind the house where I grew up back then. Now there are still almost none. Not a shortage of them in Florida and amazed me at all the nests on power line poles there and they seem to have almost no fear of people. Apparently they seem to be smart enough that they don't want to go North anymore LOL.

At a Federal refuge on the Mississippi between Mn. and Wi. they erect poles and platforms for them to nest on but in 20 years only seen one nesting pair here. And it is almost half a mile from the shore. Only real shot I've gotten of one in all that time with 2 stacked 1.4x tc's on a 300mm.

Didn't say it was decent shot LOL but I finally got one.

I agree turkey would have been a terrible choice. I think the red-tailed hawk would have been a good choice. They are uniquely American, beautiful, found in every state except Hawaii, and are honorable hunters.
