This is the method I used. I did it in my yard, almost all by myself and it took me 3 days. I have a lot of pictures I'll upload them in a little bit

IDK how far are you in your project

Just make sure you protect your new frame now that you have full access to it before installing it.

    IMHO clean, degrease it ,
For inside Frame: clean it, degrease , let dry some days then apply eastwood internal frame paint,
let it dry and then 4 cans of WoolWax ,
For the exterior , clean , degrease and pre-paint clean then use Chassis Saver 1 Gallon, be generous , you can protect the skids too.

    * all you know rust need 3 things, water, metal and oxygen
    * all you know the risk is the Rust inside the frame the invisible one

I saw few years ago an immaculate super clean brand new look frame
on a TRD green excab super low miles 63K sold for 10K with only ONE hole next to spring holder of passenger side... see frame pics on this link

I used Alkyd Shopcoat Primer - Red Oxide on the bare metal and then the POR-15. Seems to do well.

OP has many options to protect the frame before the installation

i have the ideas , I just miss a compressor with hose Now and some $

    On 2016 I parked 45 degree,
    high pressure water... flushed
    Weed sprayer with the degreaser
Wait 20 minutes... then flush water
Let it some days to dry.
Air wand compressor blow out fine dust particles...
Proceed with 3 cans of Internal Frame. Paint Eastwood( I should got 6 and a better wand , didnt know back then ) , exterior brush paint with Chassis Saver

i spotted with boroscope, last month few rust points I missed , now i learn about these items

    https://www.amazon.com/woolwax-Spray-Can-Undercoating-Kit/dp/B07R7N8FZT
if i would do it again i will buy a gallon of this new product to spray inside 2 coats until i get solid Orange.

    https://www.amazon.com/XIONLAB-Rust-Converter-Metal-Primer/dp/B07V3S33GK

Let dry then spray woolwax Black Inside
Then last thing, paint in Black ouside frame with Chassis Saver.

    https://www.amazon.com/Woolwax-Gallon-Undercoating-Bundle-Color/dp/B07QVH3PT8

    https://www.amazon.com/Magnet-Paint-Chassis-Saver-MPC-UCP99-01/dp/B004IQDHZW

For now in a budget so i just got 1 can on interior eastwood black paint and one black of rustoleom , for the touch up corners and 4 cans of Clear Woolwax ...pending project:benchpress:

Fluid Film is some top quality rust preventative for spraying your frame. Buy off EBay cheapest.

Id just clean and repaint it. If its going to stay in Winston Salem theres no point in using Fluid film cause we dont get enough winter salt to need it imo. After a storm, a simple spray underneath with a garden hose is good enough.

I agree with you man. I have an AWD car that I drive if it does snow anyway. I’m gonna do the Eastwood internal coating just to be safe, and just paint the exterior with Eastwood chassis paint.

Good plan. Im in central NC as well, only reason why I fluid film is cause my truck was from VA and had a minor case of the crusties in some spots underneath the Toyota applied CRC anti rust goop. I hate having to work underneath it cause I will look like I just crawled out of a coal mine when Im done.

Got the front end disassembled today and sand blasted the little bit of rust that was on there. Alignment can bolts remarkably easy to remove. This frame is in amazing shape. It had to be a SW truck that ended up here on the east cost somehow.

I had to cut off a hitch that someone tried to “weld” on to the frame. Some of the scariest welds I’ve ever seen! Unbelievable that someone actually towed with this thing!
Anyway. I think I may as well replace all
Of the rubber boots and bushings on the suspension. Where is the best place to source all of that? A lot of them look dry rotted and some are cracked.

Day 2. Glass bead blasting every inch. The glass beads work well, takes the little bit of surface rust off but won’t remove the factory coating.
