Trying to install a brake controller in a 2015 TRD Sport 4x4 with the factory towing package but struggling to find the proper factory connector. I did find a connector buried in the loom after digging and removing some harness tape (driver side kick panel where it's supposed to live) but it does not seem to match up with the factory connector that is supposed to be plug and play (the Tekonsha 3040-S that multiple posts and vendor I bought controller from says should fit.)

Any idea what the end of the factory harness/plug looks like? The one I found does not match the plug and play Tekonsha connector.

    Added some pics for reference.

1st photo shows the open harness plug I found buried in the wiring loom. 2nd pic shows the open plug and the Takonsha (see red arrow)

2nd photo shows the factory plug I located (plug on the right) next to the Tekonsha 3040-S plug (plug on the left). Pretty obvious these won't play nice with each other.

Turns out the connector was higher up in the loom jammed way up high between the wiring loom and sheet metal. Took me 10 minutes to wrangle it down to where it's usable.

To locate the plug.. find the wires in the section of the harness running vertically that has a blue plastic box like structure around it. 1st pick in my first pic shows this blue plastic box like structure (right next to the white zip tie in the photo). If you go about an inch above the plastic you find the plug I originally found wrapped in black tape..which turns out is not the right plug. (see red arrow.. don't bother with this one.) Go up another inch or two on the harness to the point where the wires almost disappear and reach around the back of the harness. You'll really have to jam your hand up there.

In my truck I had to jam my hand up so high into a tight spot that I ended up taking off a good bit of skin from the top of my hand and knuckles. It's really wedged up there.

My brake controller factory wiring plug was really tough to find too; it was actually up under the lower left part of the dash. Super taped to other wires… it was completely hidden when looking from the brake pedal area. After partially opening the dash, hallelujah!IMG_3262.jpg
