Loving the wheel pics. Want me some Ray 10s!

It lost a lot of the upfront chocolate flavor for me after breathing. Drink fast and enjoy!

    Super good.

For the $30 price point I'm seeing it at, it's my new go-to Rye that's for sure

My wife poured me a blind flight! Did a similar flight last year and the Nadurra came out on top and the Macallan Classic Cut 2017 came in last. This time around there are some new contenders in the lineup.

    20200411_125410.jpg

Today I'm picking Classic Cut number 1, followed by A'Bunadh, GlenDronach, Nadurra, and 105 last. The 105 was way too young on the nose and palate, basically strawberry ethanol. My notes for the Macallan weighed heavily on its apparent age compared to the rest. I haven't tried any of these bottles recently save for the newly opened GlenDronach cask strength batch 8, so I really was blind during this flight. My guesses were way off, with my only correct guess being the Glenlivet Nadurra Oloroso. I'm splitting hairs with my ranking though as they are all fantastic... save for the 105. To me it's just way too young/green with too much ethanol jumping out of the glass. My $40 1L bottle has been open for quite some time and the fill level is below the shoulder into the label. I'm sure if I run this flight a few months from now I'll have totally different results once again

I've been drinking more bourbon lately and yesterday had a ton of rye. I'm sure that's influencing my whiskey palate quite a bit.

Sorry to nerd out so much lol I find this stuff incredibly interesting and a delicious pursuit.

Just finished off a dram of Yamazaki 12, thanks to some wheeling and dealing with @Misplaced Nebraskan! Good stuff. Now that I have my buzz on, I'm contemplating bacon shot glasses...

    It’s not in boxes anymore

after all this I decided I need a new cabinet. Each shelf is fixed so I have to organize by bottle height/shape, and the bottles are about 4-5 rows deep and you can’t see past the second. Shelving system may be in my future
