Clear coat is fading badly on my taco.Driver's side fenders,A pillar on both sides. Already had the hood and top repainted a few years ago. I kept up with washing ,waxing.sealing it. I guess because it has never seen the inside of my garage.

Well it is a 2009 just thought the paint would hold up better. My 1990 short bed deluxe 4x4 paint held up better than my taco. Any suggestions? i have a mobile guy that will paint it for $1000 that is only where it needs it. Sound like a deal or should I take it to a shop. Would ad pics but it's pouring down rain right now.
    thanks

Typical crap Toyota paint job. Sorry man.

I'd be worried about a "mobile" paint job - is it painted outdoors? How is it painted and cured without contaminates on the paint?

What color is it? Some colors are much worse to fade than others. Red, for example, is probably the worst to fade. Silver also is prone to fading. Does the guy use a base coat/ clear coat paint? /also I would ask what brand he uses. $1000 is a reasonable price if he uses decent paint and is painting doors, hood and roof.

Guess not if the hood is already fading again.

The clear coat is the protective/wear coat. A cheap clear coat is prone to peeling and doesn't have the guts and high solids content of the more expensive clear coat. Your MGM I assume is like a silver color? Perhaps you could request a better clear coat and pay for the difference in materials cost?

You can try a paint correction however a respray will be the longer-lasting option. I already have the same issue with my 09 tacoma as well but will need a full respray.

Have you tried rubbing compound and then waxing? The rubbing compound will clean the crap that embeds into the clear and then wax to protect from uv.
I can't see much clear coat burn thru fro. The pics. Maybe even just have someone detail it and point those areas out to them. I've seen detailers that could perform miracles on clear coats.

Is it peeling? My paint was really faded also, I did the paint correction myself, and also had similar problems in the same areas
Doesn’t hurt to try to save some money

Here is the pics before I scribbled on them. Going to have to weigh my options when the weather improves and the Covid-19 blows over. I'm down to 20 hours a week and things are looking bleak. I realize I'm lucky to still be working when a lot of people aren't

Yeah I tried rubbing compound and wax. I am using Collinite No 845 on it. After I wax it I don't notice it as much. I know it's hard to tell from the pics

It looks like the clear coat is oxidized. Find a good detailer and let them give you a quote for paint correction. They might wet sand with 2000 grit and then polish. Be careful if you try it. You dont want a bunch of swirls scratches in the paint.

A good detailer can get you much better results with much less chance of damage than trying something you've never done (paint correction) at home. Also note that a really good detailer is probably going to shy away from attempting correction on that paint because it's not a factory job. For me, aftermarket paint is a big red flag because you never know how well it was done and very bad things can happen that wouldn't with OEM paint.

As for having anybody come by and repaint my truck in the driveway, I'd take a pass on that for the very reasons you're now seeing.
