Also. Wondering if anyone has advice on this.

my front diff pinion is leaking. I’m assuming it is a seal.

my question is, if I replace the seal and tighten a new nut down, if I stay within the torque specs given below, will the bearing get screwed?

Mark the location of the nut before you remove it. Rotate and feel the drag.remove the flange.
Inspect the surface of the flange there has to be no groove or it will leak again.
When you put it back togeather make sure everything is clean,
just.go a hair past the mark and make sure you rotate as your tightening. Feel the drag make it a hair tighter than before you removed it.

Oh and pack your seal with grease before install. To make sure the spring dosent pop out. Also grease the running surfaces, seal and flange.

I think you should be able to. Remember to make alignment marks on the driveline; drive shaft, nut, flange and pinion. A small punch works well for marking and won't rub off when cleaning things up. Use a soft faced mallet to tap in the new seal. A brass drift would work too. Sticking the seal in the freezer for a couple hours before install might allow for easier install too as it will shrink slightly.

my only worry is that there is currently a bit of play, so I am not sure if the crush washer has loosened up. So by tightening the nut just past the mark, I am unsure if it’s going to be the proper torque/preload.

This video was when I pulled off the front driveshaft (I didn’t mark anything because I figured with the new tcase it isn’t going to matter. If you watch the distance from the crossmember to the pinion you can see the movement.

Put it all togeather and go somewhere and drive it in 4wd.
If you dont like the. Pull the diff. Personally I think that's ok for a used lifted wheeling truck.
