    States manage them differently

Idaho wants em gone because they outcompete the native cutties in some situations and they interbreed/compete with diminishing stocks of bull trout
i think their limit is 25/day lol

Colorado might be a different story tho. I gather from his writing that Geirach has a thing for them, especially in beaver ponds :)

I'm going to try to hike into a beaver pond today. Water is still really cold, so not expecting much. But getting out is what it's all about.

    Heck...there may still be ice.

Enough to make it a lot of fun!
The stream we were fishing had a bag limit of two the state limit is 10. But from some research my buddy did before we headed out, there was only suppose to be brown's and rainbows in that stream. So we were a little surprised to see him.

To my knowledge they are not considered invasive, but they are everywhere.

It’s complicated in Colorado. Rainbows, Browns, and Brooks are all non-native fish that are managed by Colorado Parks and Wildlife for recreational fishing opportunities. The problem is their interactions with native trout. Brooks will eat cutthroats and the others can hybridize with native trout. In order to “save” cutthroats, fish barriers have been installed for protection from invasive species but it severely limits their habitat range.

I've had a Colorado for about 10 years. Works well. Not sure if you're looking for specific info about it. Let me know if you are.

Got out for a bit this morning on a small stream with my 3wt. No fish, but just so much fun.

    ^^ Nice Fishy water view.
Thanks to the Calif lock down I am not able to get out to fish for a bit, so for now I can just stare at fishy water pics until I can get back out to some of my favorite spots.

Nice pics! I was just doing that too. I've been fortunate and been able to get out recently, but not to my favorite spots. Needs to stop snowing!

Floated a stretch today for the first time in about 2 years. The amount of new houses on this river is stupid.
Took the fly rod, but mostly used the spinning rod today (we were in a hurry so we were fishing it fast). Caught double digits in the 5 hours on the water. Wasn’t a great day, but it’s better than sitting at home.

Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
Finally got out for a second time and managed to hook the first one of the season for me on a mop fly.

Fuck, I want to get out!

Wife and I scouted an access that I have never seen more than 2 vehicles on Friday. There was a dozen. We passed and decided to just have a lunch along the river.

I think she may be wavering, but it doesn't matter to me at this moment. It's my turn to be at work for 7 12 hour days. In a week, I'll give it another shot.

The official trout opener will be in effect at that time, so pressure on that stream will be reduced. It's open year 'round.
