Gains with k&n / cai are negligible
Pedal commander just hijacks the throttle control so for example 10% is now 25%.

The tuning will bring you much more power on the low end <3000 rpm in addition to fixing the shift points and weird throttle curve.

If you want even more power, check out the videos in the turbo thread.

also check out the blog posts on ovtuned.com

More info on vf will be coming as release gets closer. I believe April / May was the timeline.

If I have a full tank with a blend around 91.8 octane in it and I plan on replenishing with 93 after a quarter is consumed. You think there is any harm in flashing to 1.05 93 now

if you are worried, throw in a bottle of octane booster and that will bring your tank up by 2-3 octane points.

    Ovtune 2.0 Beta
    Hi, new to TacomaWorld.

I'm running the Ovtune 2.0 Beta (downloaded from the Public page) and my engine developed an engine chirping sound. Anyone else here experienced this issue?

Also, should probably add this in there...

I was running the 1.05.1 93 Octane performance tune, flashed to stock, filled tank with 87 octane when it was slightly less than 1/4 of 93 and then flashed the 87 beta.

When do you heard the chirping? If it is at idle; then it's probably not @OVTune related, its probably the High-Pressure Fuel pump. There is a TSB from Toyota for that. Mine sounds like a really angry cricket if I'm in a drive-thru line and the sound can echo off the wall. Of course every time I try to take it into the dealer, it's quite as a mouse o_O

I'll see if I can find the TSB Number and post it here.

Edit: Found a TW Thread here that might help.

19800 tip in is softer/less aggressive than 16012.

On my truck the shifting is smoother and more predictable on 19800. With 16012 it would sometimes shift harshly or feel like it was slipping excessively, even after 1000+ miles. Subjective impression of course.

Thanks for the reply, I only listed it in this thread because it happened immediately after flashing the 2.0 Beta.

Also for the fuel pump for the TSB, do they replace the existing fuel pump with the same part number? Or an updated one?

Did you switch fuel (to higher octane, etc), at the same time as flashing.

Presently, there is no posted fix. I stop by the dealership every week when I wash my truck, just to see what they have come up with.

Yes, I did switch octanes. I was running the 1.05.1 93 Octane but got it to just below 1/4 tank, flashed it to stock, filled tank with 87 octane and flashed the 87 2.0 Beta.

I have not experienced the chirp, but anecdotal evidence by some indicates that some people have much more chirp with different fuels... Can't guarantee its not placebo but you might play with that...

Not sure what they replace it with. I would really like to get mine done as is drives me nuts - it's just such a PITA to work with my local dealership.

Does the chirping increase when your RPM’s go up? I’ve noticed this too recently and I’m not on the recall list

No, the chirping is mainly when sitting idle in Park.

I had the chirping in mine when new . It had nothing to do with OVtune . 87 octane gas with 10% ethanol was when it happened and it was bad. I read here on TW that adding Lucas upper cylinder lube to the gas stopped it . IT DID . Also switching to 91 octane 0 ethanol without the Lucas stopped it . I have not heard it since then and it has been over 3 1/2 years . It is a cheap fix to try some Lucas additive and see.

Could this be what u r hearing?
Toyota Advances D4S With Self-Cleaning Feature on Tacoma
Drivers may hear the self-cleaning taking place during a hot idle, and the process could last from 10 seconds to as long as 10 minutes, depending on driving patterns and the amount of build-up on the injectors.

I am aware of that system but I do not believe it was what I was hearing . When going through a drive through at MCD to get coffee , the echo was embarrassing each time we went . After the Lucas and then 0E 91 fuel it never happened again .
