Anyone planning trips for once the stay at home order is lifted?

I went to the grocery store today. There were lots of people out. I think people are giving up on staying home.

    I’m drinking this tonight.

They actually have one shop in West Jordan. 13 of the 14 closed down last year.

Decided to go to Big O in Sandy. They were quick and alignment was spot on  Unfortunately they ended up scratching all my rims on the face of each spoke with they alignment attachment. Not really sure how that happened. Had brand new rims, SCS F5, which are for sure not new anymore. Scratches look like the alignment attachment is circular and was pressed right up to the rim face. They for sure weren't there before the alignment, and I even cleaned my truck a few days ago. Didn't notice it until after they were closed for the day, so I just sent them an email. I guess we will see what they say. Anyone have any issues with this before? I'm sure it isn't common at all.

I wouldn't mind seeing if a small group wanted to go and do the east side of the hole in the rock road (Maybe this fall?). I am referring to Hole in the rock Trail. You must take the ferry at halls crossing. I think minimum would be 33's, Skids, Sliders, and at least a rear locker. Each vehicle should have a winch + plenty of recovery gear as well. Everyone should also carry spare inner tie-rods, spare CV's. Tools + whatever you think you might need. The location is pretty remote and any parts store would be probably 80+ mi away.

Here is a UTV site that documents it. https://www.rockymountainatvmc.com/rm-rider-exchange/hole-in-the-rock-east-utv-adventure-ride/

Also, I wouldn't mind going to a place called the dollhouse/ poison springs. It is south of goblin state park / the swell for reference. Kind of a remote trail as well, but easier to do since a ferry isn't involved. Might be able to do that trail, if quarantine is lifted by May..

The Hole in the Rock trail appears to be the same one that @Jiveydude, @Rockymtntacoma And I did last year. Awesome trail. I didn’t bring much in the way I’d spare parts.

The ferry was out of commission, so we had to go around.

    I’d be interested.

Was going to mention, the ferry isn’t required for HITR, it just makes it a shorter drive. That’s a fun trail, did it on motorcycles many years ago and ended up breaking my foot on the way in. I still want to go back and do it on a bike again. I also (somewhere) have the gps tracks from it if you wanted them.

Sounds like alot of fun, but definitely don't have spare parts, tools and a winch. I'll work on it though.

That sucks. I’ve never had it happen but I have had a couple buddies that’s happened to. The shops (one was a tire shop and one was a dealer) made it right in both cases. Hopefully it works out for you as well.

Thanks! The manager already replied to my email today saying that they will look into it and view the camera's. He said that someone will get in touch with me soon, so hopefully that means tomorrow. Yeah, it sucks for sure. I was able to polish out some of the scratches, but there are still two rims with visible scratches. Already had an issue during the install of new tires on these rims at Discount Tire in Murray last weekend. They chipped some of the paint by the hub of one of the wheels and put a couple little scratches along the lip during the tire mount. They helped by giving me a partial refund since it was there error.

Honestly this whole thing has been such a headache. Oh well, rims never stay new and they will get little scratches/nicks here and there. Luckily the rims I got from SCS were listed as "blemished" anyways, so I guess these can be thought as blemishes too

That would be a long drive without the ferry.. As for spare parts, I carry a set of Inner and outer tie rods (They are like $60 for a cheap autozone set). I have seen many people stuck on a trail (golden spike in moab) because they break an inner tie rod. That is when people break out the trail welders and weld a wrench in to get off the trail. As far as a set of front CV's that comes from my SoCal desert days. As long as you dont have a front locker and 35's/37's, breaking a front CV is very difficult lol.

I think I wouldn't mind doing a Poison Spring/ Dollhouse loop first since it is a somewhat closer drive. Poison spring is south of hanksville. Looks like a moderate trail until you get to the dollhouse area. This is also a very remote area and I think its like 70mi from hanksville.

So my 17 is about due for new tires (factory), now that it’s time for new tires I am wanting to put a little lift/leveling kit on it. Who is the best shop in the valley for it? I’m gonna do the lift then some new wheels and tires. Anyone got any recommendations?

It's not too bad. ~6hrs without, 5 1/2hrs using it. Using the Ferry though, you also need to be at the dock at a specific time. So most people usually get to the marina the day before, spend the night in Bullfrog, and then catch it first thing in thew morning. Which then makes the trip down there in to a multi-day adventure. When I did the trip, on the way down I took i-15 to i-70, then on to Bullfrog to spend the night...that was a mistake. It made the trip super long. On the way home, I skipped the ferry and it wasn't bad.

I’d give Cruiser Outfitters a call. They’ll be straight with you.
