This ^^^ Everytime I have been pulled over, even before I had my CCW, The officer asks the following, in order:
    1. May I see your license and registration please?
    2. Do you have any weapons in the car?
    3. Do you know why I pulled you over?

Upon hearing question #2, I recite the weapon and location on my person, and in the vehicle. my job when interacting with LEO, is to make them feel as safe as I can possibly make them. FWIW, In AZ, a CCW holder shows an "*" after their name on the LEO's in car computer.

yeah until you inform and they prone you out because the instant check gets read back wrong etc and you're there for over an hour deprived of your liberty for being polite...all because someone transposed something wrong or recited something wrong etc

There is no requirement for anyone to be perfect 100% of the time. You've made mistakes, I've made mistakes, Cops/Amind folks, etc make mistakes. If you are trying to make a point and/or create an issue you call foul on things like an hour sorting out some confusion. If all your information is order (Valid permit, paperwork, etc) these things are easily fixed...an apology and life goes on.
Maybe instead you'd like to be legally carrying and have a brand new cop get jumpy when he sees your firearm as you reach in that general direction and he shoots you with little warning?? That'd REALLY screw up your personal liberty.

    1) Needs the info
2&3) Has every right to ask any question pertinant to the matter at hand. His safety is more important to him than tap dancing politely around to ensure he doesn't remotely come near your civil rights. And if you don't know better than to not answer a question that might incriminate you...That's your fault.

This is news to me. I was told when I was taking my CWP that it is NOT required to notify LEO that you are a permit holder and are concealed.
Only when asked if you have any weapons in the vehicle are you required to give that information up.
I have searched thru the laws concerning sc conceal carry and many of them are very vague and difficult to interpret. Can you direct me to the article number that states I have to offer up information that I am carrying concealed?

Despite what you make belive, LEO's dont "Fish" for more charges, unless you are an ass to them, and in that case.....You more than likely deserve it. Cops have a job to do, just like everyone else. The difference being, while most of the general population has to contend with a possible out-of-control stapler, postage machine, or getting their lunch order screwed up, Cops have to contend with people who (when pulled over) think the cop has "nothing better to do". OR (gasp), actually defend a strangers life by placing theirs in harms way. Cops are doing a job, and by asking the questions they do (which they dont make up, or ask just to be an ass), they are trying to keep safety first. And by asking "Do you know why I pulled you over?" They are trying to find out if you understand what you did wrong, so you can learn and move on. They arent asking this to see if you can incriminate yourself in some consperacy.

It's funny cause I find myself hoping you stop posting cause I hate to see humans that are dicks to other humans.
This is a second time in the past couple hours that something you have said has been this lame. Wishing harm on someone else is a miserable thing to do as on person to another. Actively planning/participating in harming someone is about the only thing that's worse.

And who says they "abused their authority"? Werre you there? I hear one cop say theres a pistol on the seat. Did the suspect tell teh cops first hand? Did he turn on his dome light before they walked up so they could see it? How would you react if you had to aproach someone you didnt know, to tell them they were being an ass, only to find they had a gun nearby? And hoping to get someone killed.....Your a douche bag.

I've found its much easier to conduct myself as follows on a traffic stop

    I'm Officer _____ with _____ dept.
The reason I stopped you is ______.
Please hand me your license/reg/proof of insurance.

    bam...initial contact done

I MAY ask things such as "where are you coming from" or "what are you doing leaving this business that was closed at this time of night" and I may sometimes delve into the "do you have anything in the vehicle I need to know about" etc etc but 9/10 I have my suspicions aroused by something else...be it your movements in the vehicle...or something of that nature

If you initiate our contact with a nasty attitude...i can assure you that i can find something...if you are polite and not digging around in hidden areas of your vehicle (such as under your seat) then I will be just as polite back to you

I can assure you, that while we may push the edge on your civil rights, we will not blatantly violate them with the frequency that some of you apparently believe we do...most of us actually enjoy our jobs and dont want to lose it and end up in jail with a bunch of guys we put there...

It's not what I do that makes me want to carry; it's what the bad guys do to victims that are unable to defend themselves. Every day in the news you hear dreadful stories of violent crimes committed in communities throughout our country. The bad guy is depending on his victim to be defenseless… I don’t want to be defenseless so I choose to carry. It's a personal decision I don’t take lightly. I choose to wear a seatbelt or a helmet when I ride, boots when I hike, a warm coat when it’s cold and a 45 ACP to keep me and my loved ones safe. Just one of the tools I want to have always on hand.

Well. That is still more than what I was told. I wasn't even aware that I had to notify the officer that I had a permit. I would guess that after notifying the officer that I do have a permit to carry i'm pretty sure as to what his next question is going to be.

I have only been pulled over 1 time downtown gville during a massive dui checkpoint. Was never asked if I had any weapons in the car so I never volunteered the info.
    So thx for the info
