They are doing construction next to where i park everyday for work and my truck gets covered in dust, i mean it is a lot they move dirt around constantly and the wind blows the shit around. This will be going on for a few years.

Yesterday i looked under my hood and my motor is covered in it, i worry about the belts and such getting into the air box or sucking it in when i start it up.

Am i just being over worried?

It will be fine. You could blow the engine off with a leaf blower before you start it.

Keep an eye on the air filters.

    Call the mayor and complain.

They're meant for offroad conditions, you just have more maintenance. They make it dirtier for years to make progress, sounds like an old song.

You'll be fine, I work construction and park my vehicle at dusty jobsites. I live in a rural area with losts of dust in the wind and the only thing ive noticed is I have to change the air filters more often than others, but not significantly. Your vehicle will be fine and you're over thinking it. If the dust in the engine bay bothers you, blow it off or hose it off.

An unusually high amount of pinstriping.
You'll be fine. This is all dust, no mud. Driving through a 6" of powdery silt for an entire day put a layer of dust all over the truck. By the time I hit 50 mph on the highway the truck was clean. If it makes you feel better you can check your air filter once a week, but you should be good.

Wash all that off later. The dust is abrasive and if you leave mud on it a long time, can damage the paint and promote corrosion problems.

The worst dust comes from concrete pouring and sawing, there is a lot of lime in it , and it promoted corrosion and rust.

your air filter replacement interval may fall under the 'severe conditions' now :notsure:
i'm not sure about that open hose from the coolant res. bottle, make sure that top cap is on tight and the washer tank, etc.
if you use fresh air inflow to the vents you maybe want to not be using that! close that switch, which i forgot to do that the other day driving through the major dust cloud over the river :annoyed: windy af out

I tried a leaf blower but buy the time i get home it seems like the heat from the engine bakes it on. They are doing concrete pouring, blacktop it's just a mess. The guys are wearing mask for dust.

Before this mine looked good for it's age. :)
