They are just doing regrinding of the OEM cams. Not making all new ones. That is why it is so much cheaper. Probably have to relash afterwards. No biggie at that point.

 

Even then, Kelford was 5x the cost for regrinding the stock cams. 10x that for custom ones.

 

Same relative price that Crower quoted me, and their other customers. When they have the equipment to do things efficiently, the costs are passed onto the customers. Plus they have a long history of doing so, accurately.

 

That's pretty cool. That's a nice mellow bump at a good price.

Block is fully stripped and ready to head to the machine shop.

 

Is that a broken piece of casting, near the single long stud? Side of block.

 

Where the oil filter housing goes? I don't seem to remember it being broken, but I'll double check when I get home from work in... 12 hours.

Just had my roommate go out and check, no broken castings. Should be all set to get cleaned up/blasted/bored and ready for shiny bits!

 

Probably never lol I’m gonna sell it soon and use some of the proceeds to fine tune my 1st gen

Has anybody upped the rev limiter on their 2tr? I'm wondering if I'd be able to hit the 7k limit on the gauge with the 1mil over valves, dual valve springs, and 10 degrees of timing + ten thou lift from a cam regrind at crower. I'm sure it won't be making any power up there, but the gauge goes that far so I want to use it.

For reference, current rev limit is 5800 roughly.

 

The upgraded valve train will handle it. Best have an oil pressure gauge to make sure that the oil pump can keep up.
