    There are several inexpensive brands that are still pretty decent quality. Giant is one of them. Don't forget the used market. There are a few bike shops that will be blowing out their demo bike inventory in preparation for the new models-that's a great way to get a decent bike at a good price.

Not much of a drop bar fan so I’m looking for a new mtb. I need to make a call to the shop I used to work at to try and get a deal. Once I finally decide on something, I’m down

    Hell yeah, that thing looks like fun.
    I’m used to longer travel full suspensions (Specialized Enduro, Santa Cruz Hightower LT, Niner RIP9) but I’ve been dabbling the idea of a steel, slack hardtail. Figure I’ll still be able to get rowdy on it but also take it bikepacking since we’ve talked about getting into that

    Yeah this thing has been a blast. Bike before this was a Knolly Warden which was also awesome. I built this up with the intention of it being my side piece but it’s been so damn fun and capable that it’s been my only MTB. I’m jonesin for another full suspension but haven’t quite decided what I want. The new Norco Optic looks just about perfect but I think I’ll wait for a while longer when they start popping up on the used market. Then of course there are eMTBs...

    I live off summit road about 9 miles from Soquel Demonstration Forest and up the hill from Santa Cruz if you’re ever in the area.
