What’s the general status of CB vs HAM/GMRS out there these days? Social distancing has got me ripping up and redoing electrics in the Taco and I now have a Switch-Pros powered channel in the passenger footwell with nothing to power. Only in-cabin things I could think of would be an inverter or a radio, and I feel like a radio would probably be a better choice.

Depends on what you do and want to do, really. I think you'd very served well by a CB.

I was kinda leaning towards GMRS just because I sometimes go shooting with people who are more likely to have a little FRS radio they could toss in their bag and I could ping them with it. Also I think the hardcore real deal comms guys can hit GMRS with their kit?

Is CB better for wheeling though?
I could be a really big nerd and get both, considering CB is like sub $100 these days. Seems like not much development is going on with CB.

    50 watts > 4 watts TX...simplex range > CB's limited line o' site...plug n' play > SWR meter for that auto tune...there is a pesky 35 Q quiz tho??

Used ham a while...had a CB license BITD...haven't used GMRS, but have dabbled witht the FRS toys (hate AA batteries). Amateur radio is the way to go IMHO...

Anyone have an iPad they want to sell? Preferably with cellular (carrier doesn’t matter, Verizon would be cool).

want something to run some maps. Not sure I want to pay for a new but kinda sketched out buying one from a random. Leme know!

I changed the shoes, springs and drums. But I couldn't bleed the brakes and get them where they needed to be. Tried 3 times. The reservoir was empty and then some when I went to top it off before bleeding so I assumed I got air into the master cylinder. Took it to a shop... they couldn't bleed it out either, installed two new master cylinders and threw their hands up. Told me to take it to Toyota. Toyota found that they had loosened one of the brake lines in the front, which I never touched. Charged me almost $250 to tighten a nut and bleed the system. The brakes are better but there's still some smush to them. I'm thinking either a seal dried out when the MC sat partially empty for a week or the first shop fucked something up when they reinstalled the original. Toyo wants $610 to install a new MC and $1300 if it also need a new brake booster. I think I'm just gonna let it ride for now. What a damn headache!

I'm an ex-Motorcycle Road racer, and the taco rubber brake lines are flexi so i would recommend upgrading to stainless steel brake lines to get rid of the spongy brake pedal. I know on the earlier Taco's people upgrade to Tundra calipers. harbor freight vacuum bleeder is the BOMB which attaches to your air compressor.

I hated the Taco feel and put EBC front rotors and pads on so now I have great bite and the rotors don't warp with a full load. Of course the first thing I did was install stainless steel brake lines like every motorcycle I have ever owned.

I've never had an issue before. Done it a dozen times with no problems but I've never had air in the MC before either.

I miss my 74. Have had a couple opportunities to buy a Blazer Chalet but could never talk my wife into it. She hate the way they look but loved our 74.fullsizeoutput_3a3.jpg

Bro and I picked up this 1990 4runner a couple weeks ago. Not running, but would crank...barely. One new wiring harness, a dozen vaccum lines, a battery, and some fluids later, shes purring again. Installed 35" Cooper all terrains on Thursday. She came with a SAS, ARB front and winch, sliders, skids, and some more goodies. She'll be tearing up Reddington pretty quick!

We tried bleeding the brakes of the 4runner above and nothing came out of the valves, only a very small amount came out of the threading when you loosened the fittings. No bubbles. We made sure the fittings weren't clogged too. Tried bleeding the master cylinder at the two fittings and no bubbles there either. Only thing we can think of is a bad master cylinder. Does that sound right?
