Avoid the exploding Pinto and the aluminum block Vega. The Tacoma from any year is going to be perfect by comparison.

If I could go back and buy a brand new 17 without TSS I would.

Yea, my 2017 has been bullet proof and OVTune resolved everything in 1.5. 2.0 will even be better so 2017 and hunting for gears has been gone for a long time now.

I had a 2009 SR5 Pre-Runner and can attest it was a POS. TSB ridden and back to the shop regularly under warranty. But when I traded it in five years later with 60k miles, I got a great trade-in for another vehicle. Fast forward a few years and I now have a 2013 TRD OR and it's great. As long as tacomas slowly depreciate, I'll put up with the minor annoyances.

Never knew they changed the transmission in later years. They must have if a flash didn't even help previous trucks shifting. She also said the transmission slips even after an update flash. Ridiculous. Maybe she is talking about the flare in the morning during first run which was addressed ? If so that's really not a way to convey the issue. Where do they get this misinformation from ?
