This is showing how to bypass the parking brake. Demo mode is something else entirely that shows through all the features of the radio, as if it’s on display at a store. But no, demo mode will not drain the battery and it will shut off with the vehicle.

i was researching that trick and it was referred to as 'Demo Mode' and allows the video bypass. but upon my own tinkering its not at all the same, and an easy bypass. Thanks

I just finished a long road trip and had this unit reboot around 10 times over 24 hours of use. Anyone else having rebooting issues? I was using wireless CarPlay with Waze and iTunes or Pandora. It always started right up and synced with the phone so it was a huge pain but wanted to see if I’m not alone before I start making phone calls.

pioneer has pushed several updates for the 4400 in recent months. apparently iOS13 has been a big change so just make sure the radio, the phone, and all apps are currently updated. that's all pioneer will say to do anyway

People need to remember that the problem begins with Apple. They try to upgrade and fix something but will usually break something else. It’s always the third parties that have to adjust. It sucks but is what it is. The problem will always work out once the problems are addressed.

Thanks for the info. I checked the website and I’m currently running the newest firmware. By your response I’m guessing you do not have problems with the device rebooting.

I’ve got an 8400 and haven’t had any issues. I’ve done a lot of 4500’s recently and any issues have been cleared up with radio and phone updates. Haven’t had any 4400’s come in with issues yet, but that doesn’t mean they won’t

Could try checking the wiring in back. I have seen reboots due to poorly used butt connectors resulting in loose connections.

Are you still having rebooting issues? I’ve having something similar with my W4500NEX in my 2017 JBL Taco.

After a lot of testing, I tracked it down to a bad Maestro box. I'm not sure what it was doing, but removing the data cable stopped the rebooting. I replaced the Maestro and have not had issues with the new box.

@BZ4X4 Thanks for the info. That's what I'm suspecting as well. I was on firmware 2.07 on the Maestro and they advised I reflash it to 2.09. So far so good. But I also haven't driven much because of quarantine. If I still experience it, they said I should try making a jumper from the red wire (accessory) on the Pioneer harness to the red/black stripe wire on the green plug of the maestro. He said that would eliminate the possibly of the Maestro shutting it down. We'll see if the reflash fixed it or not.

Funny, you reminded me they also had me make that wiring change when I installed the replacement. So who knows what the problem really was but it works great now.

Was your unit rebooting or powering off? I'm having an issue with my 4500 powering off very intermittently.

It is possible it was powering off. I imagine the behavior would be very similar to a reboot. The screen would go dark then to the startup screen and then back to functioning as it was before what ever happened.

Has anyone added a second camera to this head unit? I'm thinking of adding a front camera and thought I would check.

Thanks for reminding me, ended up bypassing the maestro for direct power to the head unit so I’ll test this weekend to see if I’m still having rebooting issues. 207D5C13-E1D5-4C42-ABDF-FF3F6F2DE576.jpg

I had to send mine in to get fixed, the mainboard went bad on it. This caused it to restart like how you're saying. It also would not accept an update

I do not regret getting the 4500 over any of the Kenwood options. Time alignment and sound quality improved ten-fold.

There’s also a new firmware up on the Maestro site called “rebooting”. Maybe a fix, but I have not tried it.
