Been lurking on every thread I can on this, ordered and got the kicker key in. Waiting for metra harnesses and kicker hide away. What do I need to extend this blue wire ? I am a total novice at this, but have pieced together everything I could possible understand from you guys here. If I need speaker wire or something extra, I’d like to try and obtain it when I do install. Thank you and OP for making this happen for a lot of people, including me. I’ve felt pretty accomplished with what I’ve been able to achieve purely based off of these threads.

Where do you plan to install the Key? I recommend extending everything to put the key under the passenger seat and the hideaway under the drivers seat. Get some speed wire from Crutchfield. I soldered the RCA jacks for the sub back into the harness before the amp. Like this:

I thought about this. But for simplicities sake I decided behind the head unit. I also cut the RCA’ jacks last night and dont see myself being able to salvage those at all :( I do see the benefit of being able to fiddle with it outside of the head unit though. Speed wire is also what I need to extend said blue wire? I wish I knew before I received my 6x9’s haha.
Thanx for the suggestion... Hopefully down the road I dont kick myself too much for not going your route.

Speed wire is a 9-wire bundle to handle 4 speaker connections plus a remote blue wire. If all you need to do is extend that one wire then just get some 18 gauge wire.
I found myself tweaking the gains and running the calibration more than once to get it just right.

Hoping some of the experts can chime in on whether my harness is correct:

Ummmm. I’m no expert but I do know for sure that painters tape will be far less than ideal for wire connections.

Sorry if this question has already been asked. Will this T-harness work with the alpine power pack.

Bad for connections, good for mapping out the layout prior to soldering.

Looking to possibly do the Kicker Key install, does anyone know if this will interfere with the Car Solutions anytime camera kit? I have one installed and I can't recall if it's harness may conflict with the Key harness.

Thanks Destin, I already ordered all the Kicker speakers and tweeters to do the swap out. I like to listen loud so the Key amp keeps tempting me. I'll do the speakers first and go from there. Thanks to the OP, I'm going to make a little soldering stand to hold the harness while I work on it since I have the Metra harnesses.

On another note, has anyone tried using the bottom head unit mount locations to hold the Key? Kind of like a bracket or plate that it can be mounted on? Maybe I can contribute if I can fabricate something like that.

It’s been a bit, but I “think” the Key is too big to mount there. Especially once the wires are plugged in to both sides

From a glance, it looks like this circled connector should be the male plug and not the female plug. 2A1F433A-4184-4C3C-BDD0-91804EB81AED.jpg

Just want to make sure the male Metra connectors go to the input side (Small key harness)
And the female Metra connectors go to the Output side (the larger key harness with power and ground)

Been following this thread for a bit. Big thanks to the OP for the awesome write up, and all of the others in here offering up their help and advice! Wanted to share that I just ordered the new Kicker Key200.4 amp. Looks to be pretty much identical to the 180, but provides 200 watts of power over the 180 in the previous model. So looking at 50 watt rms per channel versus the previous 45. Really hoping the setup will be identical so I can follow these instructions.

Are you able to add a sub? And how?
