    I’ve wanted another front camera for a while but bought a previous version from a member that required some soldering of diodes for switches and grounding of some wires behind the head unit. Within the first week, the truck blew fuses and I ran into systems shutting down etc. So i uninstalled it, replaced fuses and 30k miles later no issues, so I think I’m ready to try another option. I like that this doesn’t have any switches to deal with. Does it require any wires to be grounded behind the dash or any where else? Also, if I’m reading correctly, the front camera activates every time after putting the car into drive? Then it goes off at 30 sec or after 30mph? If we have a manual, does that mean everytime I start my truck and put it in gear it will turn the camera on? I’d really prefer that the front camera never turns on unless I switch it on, is that possible with this kit?

    An MT guy would have to chime it to answer your questions, but for us AT... the front camera only comes on automatically when it comes out of Reverse. So going from Park to Drive, camera doesn't come on automatically.

    After thinking about this a bit more...
    When driving WITHOUT your trailer connected you may have a period of "blank screen" when going from reverse to forward, due to the auto-switching to a non-existent camera in that scenario. Possibly you could avoid that situation by also installing a front camera, and then manually plugging the front cam into the RCA connector (and 12vdc power) when you unhitch your trailer. You would need to wire a video extension cable from behind your HU to a convenient location to make physically swapping the camera cables feasible.

    I have a question, I installed mine the same way. Went in easy but only issue I have is the picture on front cam is mirrored. its right side up but what is on left of truck is on right on the cam. Any help??

    You can reuse the camera, yes. You will lose button functionality, but gain steering wheel control option.

    the controller also has an additional input in case you don’t have a factory backup camera, I haven’t tried but it may be possible to connect three cameras to the system... I’ll test it.

    The more I think about this, the more it might not be what I'm after.
    I would want my regular back up cam to function as normal and the secondary one to only function from a push switch.
