You can buy the supercharger new from LC Engineering, but I don't think it's an original Alpine one.

There are guys in here talking about supercharged first gens versus stock 2nd/3rd gens. At least compare apples to apples and compare supercharged to supercharged. Thats laughable. Idk who's slapping a supercharger on a high mileage 1st gen. Unless you're buying one with low miles and have fun with the price tag.

People continue to put on super chargers on 200k mile+ 1st gens with no problems. 2nd gens supercharged are faster, but 3rd gens don’t have the dealer option and even supercharged are slower than 1st gens(sc’d). Price tag on a low mileage 1st gen with all of the options is better (cheaper) than a low model 2nd gen too.

It’s all about having different options for whatever Tacoma body style you want.
None of these trucks are apples to Apples because they are completely different trucks

    You can’t compare a 1995 Tacoma to a 2020 Tacoma regardless.
The 2020 Tacoma is a boat is weight and length compared to the 1995 Tacoma.
2020 Tacoma are filled with electrical gadgets and a high tech look.
1997 Tacoma was supercharged and was covered by the Toyota warranty.
You can supercharger a high mileage 3.4 all day long.
2020 Tacoma can’t be superchargered, but will soon, but probably void the Toyota warranty.
2020 motor is super high tech, 3.4 motor is A 25 year old design

Every year has its pros and cons.

IMO, it's hard to go wrong with either. The 1st Gen and 3rd are totally different trucks so difficult to compare. I wouldn't want to part with either.

Yes but you should be comparing stock vehicles to stock vehicles. You can supercharge the 2nd gen too. Inherently the 1st and 2nd gen are way different. But it’s comical to compare a modified 1st gen to a stock any other gen.

I’m not knocking any vehicle. They’re both great in their own respect to different uses.

I know the OP, @Rujack, hasn't been on TW since mid-February, but if they or anyone else is still looking for that "rare" 1st gen DCSB 4x4 with a manual, talk to @2JHilux .

Let's say we compare what you get for $35,000? A stock third gen, or a first gen tricked out with $30,000 worth of mods. Would that be a fair comparison?

Yup, If they don't make what you want you just have to build it yourself.
Automatic toyota trucks just don't feel right to me, 4runners or Suv are fine but not in a truck.

    2001 3.4l V6 Double cab 5spd 4x4, and everything looks better parked next to a mk4.
Actually decided not to 2JZ swap it cause it drives so well right now with the 5spd swap.
For the right $$$ I would sell it to a toyota enthusiast I don't use it much.

It’s fairly routine if you hang out on the 1st gen supercharger threads.
My supercharger is out for rebuild at the moment. It’s going on a 245,000 mile 2003 V6 Tacoma.

Ok, you’re still proving my point. He’s asking about differences in vehicles why would you not compare stock to stock? Makes no sense to me but to each their own.

Not even knocking on 1st gens lol y’all are like a cult. I’ve owned multiple and loved them. My modified first gen was better off-road than when I bought my 2nd gen stock. What good does that do me lol

I don’t think this has been mentioned but a 3rd gen will have a lot more safety features than a 1st gen.

Ok so a 1st Tacoma superchargered or not probably doesn’t depreciate hardly any unlike a newer Tacoma and probably most 1st gen Tacoma’s are paid for unlike a new Tacoma

    That’s a fair comparison I guess, :)
