Hey everyone, noob here. My rear diff just went, was leaking oil and seized up, so I need a new one. It had B03A in it, which looks to be 4.10 gears. MY truck is a V6. I'm assuming it doesn't matter if I find the same diff that came out of a 4 cylinder auto truck? Thanks in advance!

According to the op, 4.30 is right. My 02 2.7 manual 4x4 has the same.

When i did my rear end I still did a manual check on the gear ratio because im a bit paranoid. Chalked the propeller shaft and the rear wheel, jacked her up on jack stands and had a buddy turn the rear wheel 10 full rotations. I counted 2.25 rotations on the propeller shaft and multiplied it by 2, which gave me a 4.5 gear ratio (4.56). You wont make it too far if you get

Sorry folks, I need to correct myself again because I did my rear end a year ago and had a brain fart. If you want to manually check for gear ratio you can jack the truck up, chalk the wheel and drive shaft, pop it in neutral and spin the rear wheel 10 rotations. Video the propeller shaft and count the shaft rotations (mine spun approximately 22.5 times), multiply the rotations of the shaft by two (mine was 45ish) then you divide that number by 10 ( mine was 4.5ratio).
Good luck with the rear end.

I think it was mentioned farther back, but the 8.4 was just what Toyota called the E-Locker diffs. They were technically an 8 though, so it's 8 for both the e-locker and non-e-locker diffs. Correct me if I'm wrong, just what I've heard.

Did the 5 lugs ever come with 4.10 gears?

Curious about something that someone might know. My parents towed a ~3500lb Grady White boat with our 2001 PreRunner Xtra Cab AT V6. I asked him how it handled (I've heard the complaints of "oh these trucks are so bad at towing you feel anything you put on the back") and he said it was pretty easy and effortless, so I was wondering what the rear end might've been in it. I want a V6 5MT Xtra cab (and I intend to tow with it at some point) and I know they're all 4.10s, but I was thinking the PreRunners might've been different being 4AT vs a 5MT.

Local junkyard telling me that a factory 4.56 rear end never came with an E locker, only the 4.30. Is that true?

2000 4runner here. Is this saying I have a 7.5" rear with 4.10s and two pinion open rear end?
