I am probably going to buy a camper shell. I want to disable the third brake light and bed light on my 2018 DCSB. I don't want to pull down the headliner and remove the light to unplug it. Is there a connection somewhere that is fairly easy to get to that I can disconnect? Or if not does anyone know where the wires are easily accessible so I can cut them? Are the wires under the passenger door sill?

Also I am thinking about intercepting the bed lights wire to light the inside of the camper shell.

    Just pull the bulbs?

Also, I can't see the light at all with my Softopper. You might try it as is?

Wouldn’t he have to drop the headliner to remove bulbs?

The cargo light wires run down the drivers side by, down the rear seatbelt area to the floor then along both front and rear drivers foot well, and end up behind the drivers kick panel. So I assume brake follow the same path.

Is there a connector under the door sill that I can unplug or will I have to cut the wire?

It takes 15 minutes to remove from the outside with a small screwdriver and 1/2 inch drill bit.

Think mine is still illuminated and doesn't bother me a bit with my shell...

That means trashing the light, the topper won’t cover the hole that’s left.

That would leave him with a mangled light and a hole in his truck.

It doesn’t take much longer to drop the rear of the headliner and do it properly.

Nah lens pops off in one piece...JB weld the holes and or studs back on. Silicone light back in place or use aftermarket third brake light that bolts from the outside.

yeah that’s weird. I’d rather have the mounting screws on the outside

No connector that i know of. use a volt probe to check BEFORE you cut. I was adding a pulse flash to mine.
