Show me your knob.

I made one out of a giant bolt my neighbor and his sons found in the ocean in Maine. Since I do a lot of metalworking, his son thought of me when he found it on the shoreline.

I came across a nice piece of sugar maple a while back and turned knobs for my 1st gen.

I'm working on a few knob options for my 3rd gen ATM. Also turned a couple taps out of the same tree.

I changed mine up today to kill some time. We’ll see if I stick with it.

 

I liked the Bolt pretty original. lots of options with the Bolt. Rock looks nice.

is there supposed to be this much gap?

 

Is the chrome collar still on there? I just put mine on today.

 

no I took it off. This piece was suggested to me because it was removed. Regardless, even if the collar was there, it’ll still have the gap.

 

You shouldn't have a gap. Once you attach it to the shift boot, it will drop lower without a gap. Just like my pics.

Pushing it down isn't going to help. You need to pull the console and attach the boot to the new collar from the underside.

The original was attached with a hidden zip tie. This new one attaches the same way. The lower part is hidden by the shift boot like in my pics.

 

haha you said when it drops lower it’ll tighten the gap.

I don’t see how attaching the boot will fill the gap. Only reason I thought to drop it lower was that the shaft got thicker as you went down. I think it’s the wrong part

It is the correct part. It looks like you are trying to pull the boot through the inside of the part, that is not correct. The boot gets zip tied to the outside of it. The capturing slot and groove should not be visible, it should look just like @tonered 's bottom picture set, he has the same exact pc.
